Responding to Earth Hour 2025: Increasing propaganda, raising awareness of energy saving

Since the beginning of March 2025, Lang Son Electricity Company has proactively implemented many activities to spread the spirit of energy use, using electricity economically and effectively, towards ensuring national energy security.

Mr. Tran Xuan Quang, Head of Business Department, Lang Son Electricity Company said: Since the beginning of March 2025, the company has directed the electricity companies of districts and cities to establish working groups to guide and mobilize organizations, agencies and customers to implement electricity saving measures, and at the same time directly propagate to customers who are households, manufacturing enterprises, business owners... to turn off household lights, advertising lights and unnecessary electrical equipment during Earth Hour 2025 (from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 22, 2025).

In 2025, the event of turning off the lights for one hour in response to Earth Hour 2025 will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 22, 2025 (Saturday) with the message "Green transition - Green future".

In addition to directly propagating to people and customers, to strongly spread the Earth Hour program in 2025, Lang Son Electricity Company also actively propagates through text messages, sending messages in response to Earth Hour in 2025 to more than 265 thousand customers using electricity in the province via text messages, social networks such as Zalo and through the customer care App system of the electricity industry.

Not only Lang Son Electricity Company, from the beginning of March 2025 to now, departments and branches in the province have also implemented many activities with the goal of propagating and mobilizing people to participate in responding to Earth Hour 2025, turning off unnecessary electrical equipment from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 22, 2025, and at the same time propagating so that people regularly save electricity.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, from the beginning of March 2025 to now, the department has simultaneously deployed activities in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2025. Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade has chaired and coordinated with Lang Son Electricity Company to hang 13 propaganda banners on some main roads in the city and in densely populated areas of the districts; posted 300 propaganda posters in response to Earth Hour 2025 in densely populated areas, public places, school areas, markets, and agency headquarters in the districts and cities.

Along with that, the Department of Industry and Trade has sent a document to all organizations, state agencies, units and manufacturing enterprises in the province, requesting that enterprises respond by turning off lights, turning off unnecessary equipment and stopping all production activities for 1 hour on the evening of March 22. In particular, the Department of Industry and Trade also sent a document requesting that manufacturing enterprises, especially those with large electricity consumption, develop plans to use electricity economically and effectively. Thereby, 153 manufacturing enterprises in the province have registered to participate in responding to Earth Hour in 2025. These enterprises not only turned off the lights during Earth Hour in 2025, but also signed a commitment to shift production time to off-peak hours such as: implementing night shift production, temporarily stopping some machines when not needed, and turning off unnecessary lighting equipment in factories, headquarters, etc.

Together with departments and branches, in recent times, the People's Committees of districts and cities have simultaneously organized activities to respond to and implement the action of "turning off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment" during the Earth Hour Campaign in 2025. At the same time, directing units in charge of managing public lighting systems to implement optimal load reduction plans for public lighting projects...

In response to Earth Hour 2025, leaders of the People's Committees of districts and cities have directed specialized departments, People's Committees of communes, wards and towns to organize propaganda and mobilize businesses and families in the area to directly propagate about the rational use of electricity to save as much electricity as possible during the Earth Hour event in 2025. At the same time, they also directed the lighting system management unit in the city and towns to implement the plan to turn off public lighting in areas that do not affect traffic safety; turn on the lighting system on the roads according to the plan 1 off - 1 on (ie on the same road, 2 adjacent lights will turn on 1 light and turn off 1 light) in the evening to save energy...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh, owner of a souvenir shop on Le Loi Street, Vinh Trai Ward, Lang Son City, said: Through propaganda channels as well as being propagated by electricity officials and Vinh Trai Ward officials, my family learned about the Earth Hour 2025 Campaign. Accordingly, my family and many businesses on the same street bought candles and prepared some rechargeable lamps to be ready to respond to Earth Hour, turning off the lights at exactly 20:30 on March 22. Not only responding to Earth Hour, my family will implement the electricity saving solutions that have been instructed throughout the 365 days to reduce electricity usage...

With the promotion of the response to Earth Hour 2025 by all levels, sectors, localities, businesses, and the response of the people, it will help raise public awareness in using energy effectively, thereby both saving money and helping to protect the environment.
