On November 14, 1972, while soldiers and youth volunteers were on duty on Road 20 Quyet Thang, American planes bombed and plowed the area. At that time, a squad of youth volunteers consisting of 4 men and 4 women, mostly in their 20s, ran into a cave for shelter. But the cruel bombs hit a section of rock, burying the cave entrance. Although their teammates tried to use many rescue methods in the following days, because the rock was too large and the techniques were still rudimentary..., 8 young men and women heroically sacrificed themselves.

The war has long since ended, but the names of the eight Thanh Hoa sons of that time still resonate, becoming legends on Route 20 Quyet Thang.
