In the process of socio-economic development in the "inner" commune of Thanh My Tay, the physical education and sports movement has made positive progress, meeting the needs of the majority of people. In particular, martial arts is a sport that is especially loved by young people. Mr. Ngo Van Minh, a cultural and social officer of Thanh My Tay commune, informed: "Along with the diverse development of sports, martial arts is the choice that young people in the locality prioritize, because of its popularity and positive effects on health, so it is loved by many people. Currently, we are supporting 3 martial arts clubs operating in the commune, including: Traditional Martial Arts Club, Taekwondo Club, Vovinam Club. In which, Taekwondo and Vovinam clubs operate at Thanh My Tay Secondary School and Thanh My Tay High School, respectively. The traditional martial arts club operates in the yard of the Temple Relic Area of Quan Co Tran Van Thanh".

According to Mr. Ngo Van Minh, these martial arts clubs operate regularly, contributing to the formation of a useful playground for local youth. Thanh My Tay Commune People's Committee regularly contacts and supports the necessary conditions for martial arts clubs to operate, in order to build a habit of physical training in the local youth generation, helping them improve their stature, study well to build the future. At the same time, the locality has created conditions for free playgrounds and lighting for Thanh My Tay Commune Traditional Martial Arts Club to operate.

As a coach of the Thanh My Tay Traditional Martial Arts Club, Mr. Huynh Van Sang (a member of the An Giang Traditional Martial Arts Federation) is very excited to receive the attention and support of the locality, especially the enthusiasm and eagerness of the young people when participating in the martial arts class. “The club currently has 75 members, participating in 3 sessions per week. The atmosphere of the practice is very lively, bringing excitement to the parents who come to watch. Because of the positive effects of practicing martial arts, many parents are always ready to support their children to participate, as well as take the time to pick up and drop off martial arts students to practice every afternoon. This is the motivation for me to try my best in guiding and passing on the passion for national martial arts to the children" - Mr. Huynh Van Sang shared.

According to Huynh Van Sang, the club members are divided into many groups to practice with different goals. At the youngest age, they will learn basic exercises to improve health and physical development. For those who have mastered basic techniques, they will approach more advanced exercises. In particular, individuals with potential will be trained to become athletes of Chau Phu district to participate in provincial tournaments.

In the 2025 Pencak Silat Tournament for Clubs in An Giang Province, the Thanh My Tay Traditional Martial Arts Club had 2 individuals winning gold medals, bringing pride to the local martial arts movement: Le Thi Kim Yen and Tran Thi Minh Thu. In 2024, the Club also participated in the Open Pencak Silat Tournament in Chau Thanh District and won first place overall in the youth category. This is a special highlight, creating a solid foundation for the locality to develop the martial arts movement more widely and with better quality.

At the 2025 Chau Phu District Traditional Cultural Festival, members of the Thanh My Tay Commune Traditional Martial Arts Club had an attractive performance, receiving enthusiastic cheers from the people and tourists coming to the event. This is the basis for the locality to continue developing the martial arts movement in the coming years. “I think that young people who are passionate about martial arts in Thanh My Tay Commune still have a lot of potential to develop into high-performance athletes in the future. If they are cared for and nurtured, they are fully capable of conquering provincial-level tournaments and higher. I myself will always try my best to contribute to the locality in building the martial arts movement, finding many good athletes for Chau Phu sports" - Mr. Huynh Van Sang affirmed.

To promote the martial arts movement in the coming time, the People's Committee of Thanh My Tay commune needs to actively create conditions for martial arts clubs to develop further, in order to create a useful playground for the young generation. Along with that, continue to orient the building of a core force of athletes, contributing to Chau Phu district sports to compete in provincial-level playgrounds.
