Rain on Butterflies combines many genres such as drama, black comedy, fantasy and horror. The film delves into the relationship between mother and daughter, the differences in ideology and lifestyle between women from two generations. Through the work, director Duong Dieu Linh highlights the real culprit behind women's suffering, thereby answering the question of true happiness for women in modern society.

In September 2024, Don't Cry, Butterfly won two awards at the 81st Venice Film Festival: the IWONDERFULL Grand Prize awarded by the international jury for the best film and the most creative film award by the Verona Film Club Prize.
The film revolves around the story of Mrs. Tam (played by Tu Oanh), a middle-aged woman who works as a wedding coordinator in Hanoi. For her first time in cinema, young actor Nguyen Nam Linh plays Ha, Mrs. Tam's daughter. The film also features choreographer and actor Le Vu Long as Mrs. Tam's husband and young actor Bui Thac Phong as Ha's best friend.
