The People's Council of Soc Trang province has just approved the Project on Developing brackish water shrimp farming in the province, period 2023-2025, vision to 2030.

The project will be implemented in 5 districts and towns, including: Tran De, My Xuyen, Cu Lao Dung, Long Phu and Vinh Chau town; implementation period 2023-2025, vision to 2030. The total cost of implementing the project is more than 29.4 billion VND, of which local budget capital is 17.56 billion VND, socialized capital is 11.83 billion VND. The specific goal of the project by 2025 is to increase the production value of the province's seafood industry to an average of 2.74%/year and by 2030 to 5.1%/year; brackish water shrimp farming area reaches 57,000 hectares, output reaches 233,800 tons, brackish water shrimp export value reaches at least 1 billion USD/year; 45 shrimp farming models are built with strict control over the environment and diseases; Strive for 100% of farming facilities and households to be granted pond codes to ensure traceability for export; consolidate and improve the quality of operations of 20 cooperatives that have achieved VietGAP certification...
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nha, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Soc Trang province, said that the project is of great significance in stabilizing production, maintaining and increasing brackish water shrimp export turnover towards increasing productivity and quality. At the same time, it actively contributes to restructuring the brackish water shrimp industry towards high technology, applying digital technology, and sustainable development.
