The temperature drops sharply at night and early morning, while the weather is hot and sunny during the day, creating favorable conditions for harmful and disease-causing organisms to develop on rice, fruit trees and industrial crops in the districts of Dien Bien, Muong Nhe, Muong Ang, Tua Chua, Tuan Giao and Muong Cha in Dien Bien province.
Specifically, in 2,703 hectares of crops infected with pests and diseases, 1,532 hectares of winter-spring rice were infected with leaf blast, leaf ear disease, brown leaf spot disease, stem borer disease, and brown spot disease; 390 hectares of coffee trees in Muong Ang district were infected with brown leaf blast disease and brown spot disease; 668 hectares of fruit trees (mainly citrus trees) in Tuan Giao, Muong Ang, and Muong Cha districts were infected with termites, cotton aphids, anthracnose, gummosis, and fruit borers.
To minimize damage caused by pests on crops; at the same time, limit the spread of pests on a large scale, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dien Bien province has issued a document requesting the People's Committees of districts to direct specialized departments and agricultural extension departments to regularly visit fields, check for diseases on crops and recommend that farmers prioritize the application of pest management measures and proactively grasp the growth situation of pests.

In addition, for crops that have been found to have harmful organisms, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that the local agricultural extension department continue to investigate, monitor, and detect major harmful organisms on other crops to proactively advise appropriately for each locality.
Particularly for Nam Po, Muong Nhe, and Dien Bien districts, bamboo locusts have been detected in previous years and need to be proactive in investigating and understanding the areas with nests to develop a plan for prevention, control, and eradication that is safe, effective, and economical.
