Digitizing more than 3,000 paintings of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers

On April 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology launched the website “Portrait of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers”. This is one of the activities to educate the tradition to union members and young people in the city, associated with the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

The website “Portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers” was built by the Center for Geographic Information System Application (under the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City) since January 2020. To date, the center has digitized more than 3,000 portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

In addition to the portraits, the website also includes pages introducing each painting, the stories of the mothers, and the circumstances surrounding the portraits. The portraits, created by artist Dang Ai Viet from 2010 to the present, aim to remind the younger generation to remember the contributions of those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
