Promoting youth strength to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development

On the afternoon of March 21, in Dong Hoi City (Quang Binh Province), young officers of the Vietnam-Laos Border Guard participated in a seminar with the theme "Strengthening cooperation to build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developed border".

Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard, Border Guard Command, Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and Colonel Dao Cay Lot Ly Van, Deputy Political Commissar, Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard, Border Guard Command, Lao Ministry of National Defense co-chaired the discussion.

At the discussion, delegates from both sides affirmed that young officers from the Vietnam and Laos Border Guards have closely coordinated, contributing to maintaining security and order in the border area. The two sides regularly exchange information, coordinate bilateral patrols, and maintain the implementation of the Agreement on Border and Border Gate Management. From 2024 to present, the two sides have conducted 227 bilateral patrols, controlling 681,332 people and 336,688 vehicles crossing the border.

Young officers from both countries have successfully coordinated to fight 44 special cases, arrest 123 subjects, and seize large quantities of drugs, weapons, and explosives. Representatives from both sides also shared experiences and good practices to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in border protection.

Speaking at the seminar, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai and Colonel Dao Cay Lot Ly Van highly appreciated the contributions of young officers from both countries. The two comrades emphasized the pioneering and creative role of youth in maintaining peace, friendship and protecting the border. Young officers need to strengthen their understanding of the policies of the leaders of the two countries, share experiences and closely coordinate in exchange activities, patrols and crime prevention.

In addition, young officers from both sides continued to advise on organizing visits, cultural and sports exchanges, strengthening twinning of border posts and stations; and promptly combating and preventing hostile forces from exploiting ethnic and religious issues to sabotage bilateral relations.

The seminar is one of the activities within the 4th Vietnam-Laos Border Guard Young Officers Exchange Program taking place from March 20 to 24 in Quang Binh. Within the framework of the program, delegates from both sides will participate in law dissemination, award scholarships, plant friendship trees, participate in cultural and sports exchanges, and visit the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
