Recently, Khe Luc village, Dai Duc commune (Tien Yen district) has become a "hot" destination for travelers and tourists with the beautiful scenery of ancient San Chi houses and cultural activities imbued with national identity. This is an impressive start, contributing to promoting community tourism based on promoting the traditional cultural values of the San Chi people.
Many groups of tourists and travelers enjoy the fresh air, the green of trees and plants, and the riềng plant. In the middle of that scene is a homestay with a traditional San Chi roof made of earthen bricks and covered with yin-yang tiles. In front of the house, the fence is made of stone, without the need for mortar or plaster.

Each house here is also a cultural space, a place for exchanges and performances of singing "sông đá", dancing "tắc xình", spinning tops... This homestay also has 5 bedrooms with a capacity of 18 people... for tourists to experience the life of the people. Mr. Le Minh Thu (Cao Thang ward, Ha Long city), an employee of a travel agency who surveyed and built tours, shared: I see Dai Duc has changed surprisingly. Along with lakes, waterfalls, terraced fields, the ancient houses typical of the San Chi people with traditional culture create a great impression and attraction for tourists.
To have such impressions, the government and people have made great efforts to preserve and promote unique cultural values. "From the beginning of 2024, the commune has implemented a plan to develop community tourism through preserving traditional houses and restoring traditional cultural features... To realize this, we promote the spirit of cadres and party members. If effective, in the coming time, we will strive to mobilize the participation and contribution of the people, and enhance the experience for tourists" - said Mr. Hoang Viet Tung, Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dai Duc commune.
It is known that to get that initial result, it is not simple. Because the traditional houses of the San Chi people in the commune are not many left. Partly because they are degraded, damaged or located in remote areas. To promote community participation, the commune has mobilized and piloted with the role of a party member in the lead.

The house of Mr. Ninh A Loc, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, which was abandoned as a warehouse, was renovated, with more flowers and trees planted in the yard, creating a landscape. The most distinctive features of the house are preserved. Here, visitors will experience wine making, rice fanning, foot baths, medicinal baths, local cuisine, cultural and artistic exchanges, etc.
In order to promote community participation, the commune is currently mobilizing to renovate one more ancient house and pay attention to preserving about 6-7 traditional houses that still retain many unique features. If the homestay development is effective, this model will be widely deployed.
Dai Duc commune also orients tourist routes to visit local landscapes such as terraced fields, lakes, hot springs, and markets; prepares infrastructure to develop tourism such as exploring Thong Chau mountain over 1,000m high. In addition, the San Chi people in Dai Duc still preserve many cultural features with strong identities that can be exploited for tourism such as: Harvest praying rituals, singing of palm trees, cuisine, spinning tops, soccer...
To "support" community tourism here, in recent times, Tien Yen district has had many projects to develop community tourism associated with preserving cultural values. In particular, attention is paid to building cultural villages of the San Chi people, in order to preserve and promote unique traditional culture, associated with tourism development. The district also opened classes to teach San Chi language; inaugurated the San Chi ethnic cultural center, creating a space for living, preserving and organizing cultural activities and festivals.

Thanks to that, up to now, the cultural and sports festivals of the San Chi ethnic groups, Dai Duc Golden Season... have become beautiful features, highlights attracting tourists. It can be seen that the preservation of the traditional houses and unique cultural features of the San Chi people to develop tourism in Tien Yen still has a lot of potential.
