On the afternoon of September 13, a delegation of 58 US agricultural enterprises, agricultural organizations and 9 states visited the headquarters and cold storage of KLEVE Trading and Investment Joint Stock Company (Klever Fruit) in Hanoi. The delegation was led by Ms. Karen Ross, Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hai, General Director and founder of Klever Fruit, said that from the first imported fruit store called Klever Fruit, over the past 15 years, Klever Fruit has developed into a leading modern chain of stores in Vietnam, serving millions of consumers. With a total of 47 stores nationwide, Klever Fruit has become the fruit importer with the largest retail chain in the Vietnamese market today.
Ms. Karen Ross - Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture presented a glass peach as a souvenir to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hai, General Director and founder of Klever Fruit.
To spread widely in the Vietnamese market and conquer the most demanding customers, Klever Fruit has the initiative to establish a specialty fruit store with a modern model, creating a trend of organic fruit in Vietnam. Accordingly, the fruit at Klever Fruit always has a clear origin, using closed cold chain technology from the garden to the consumer.
"Klever Fruit is also the first fresh fruit business to provide a 100% refund service without any reason within 48 hours. On a mutually beneficial basis, we are cooperating with a number of embassies, fresh agricultural associations and partners to promote their world-class delicacies to the Vietnamese people," said Mr. Hai.

According to Mr. Hai, Vietnam has a large population of nearly 100 million consumers (ranked 15th globally), half of whom are under 35 years old, including "Generation Y" (24 - 39) and "Generation Z" (15 - 23) estimated at about 40 million people, who are highly educated consumers, open to new experiences and international trends.
In addition, Vietnamese people have healthy and balanced eating habits. Consumers spend 13% of their income on fresh fruits and vegetables. In a recent Cimingo survey, 85% of respondents are trying to improve their diet. 47% of dieters are trying to eat more fruits and vegetables in their daily meals, 66% of Vietnamese consumers prefer organic fruits and are willing to pay 10% more for them, with an average person consuming about 100kg per year.
"Imported fruits are everywhere in Vietnam, from traditional markets to modern supermarkets. Apples are at the top, followed by table grapes, pears, kiwis and cherries. In response to the high and growing demand for premium fruits in Vietnam, Klever Fruit has shaped the trend of using premium imported fresh fruits as luxury gifts, helping to enrich the gift-giving culture of Vietnamese people," said Mr. Hai, adding that Klever Fruit has officially entered the B2B business sector by establishing HG Fruit, providing premium fruits to modern and traditional commercial distribution channels.
American agricultural businesses enjoyed the taste of Vietnamese mangoes and grapefruits while discussing potential cooperation in the agricultural sector.
Next, at the meeting, Mr. Ralph Bean, Agricultural Counselor of the US Embassy in Vietnam, spoke and expressed his gratitude for the reception of Klever Fruit. The role of Klever Fruit in the market has especially created a premium fruit class and gradually approached the supply of fruit at good prices, making it more popular with consumers.
Last month, Klever Fruit, together with the California Fresh Fruit Association, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (US Department of Agriculture) and the US Embassy, held a ceremony to welcome the first batch of peaches and nectarines imported from California to Vietnam after more than 5 years of negotiations.
Many American agricultural businesses believe that Vietnam is a market with great potential for imported fruits, because Vietnamese consumers like high-end, sweet, high-quality and unique fruits.
