On March 4, Acting President of South Korea Choi Sang-mok called for concerted efforts from the government, the National Assembly and the private sector to effectively cope with the changing international situation.

"In recent days, I have become deeply aware of the harsh international order where there are no permanent allies or enemies," Choi Sang-mok said at a cabinet meeting, Yonhap news agency reported, stressing the need for "unity" which he said was key for South Korea to survive and prosper.
The above statement was made by the Acting President of South Korea in the context that the US has temporarily suspended military aid to Ukraine after a heated argument between US President Donald Trump and his Eastern European counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on February 28, as well as a plan to impose a 25% tax on goods from many countries.
"We must face the reality that relying solely on the goodwill of major powers and allies will not be able to fully protect our national security, industry or technology," Choi Sang-mok noted.
According to the leader, the government, Congress and the private sector must join forces to effectively deal with the ongoing trade war caused by US tariff measures.
In addition, parties need to work together to address pressing issues, including pension reform and legislation exempting semiconductor workers from the country's 52-hour workweek.
In a positive development, Mr. Choi announced that Seoul and Washington have agreed to establish an expert-level consultation body to discuss tariff measures and enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including shipbuilding.
