Russia and Poland have reacted to US President Donald Trump's suspension of all military aid to Ukraine.

The Kremlin said on Tuesday that the US halting military aid to Ukraine would be the best contribution to the goal of peace, but stressed that Russia needed to clarify the details of US President Donald Trump's move, according to Reuters.

"Obviously, the United States has been the main supplier of this war so far. If the United States stopped being (an arms supplier) or suspended these supplies, then perhaps that would be the best contribution to the cause of peace," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented.

Mr Peskov added that Russia welcomed Mr Trump's statement about wanting peace in Ukraine. "We heard his statement about wanting to bring peace to Ukraine and this is very welcome. We see certain things and receive certain information about proposed actions in this direction... But we will continue to see how the situation develops in practice," Mr Peskov stressed.

Earlier, a White House official said on March 3 that President Trump had suspended military aid to Ukraine after a heated argument between him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on February 28.

There is no information yet on President Zelensky's reaction. Reuters on March 4 quoted a senior Ukrainian lawmaker as saying that President Trump's suspension of all military aid to Ukraine appeared to be urging Kyiv to surrender on Moscow's terms.

Also on March 4, Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Pawel Wronski confirmed that President Trump made the decision to suspend aid to Ukraine without consulting with allies, according to Reuters.

"This is a very important decision and the situation is very serious... The decision was made without any information or consultation, not with NATO allies, nor with Ramstein, the group involved in supporting Ukraine in its war," spokesman Wronski said.

There is currently no information about the US's reaction to the above statements from Russia and Poland.
