These picks reflect Mr. Trump’s priorities based on loyalty and a commitment to reforming federal agencies.
Accordingly, the US President-elect chose Ms. Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education, Dr. Mehmet Oz as in charge of Medicare and Medicaid, and billionaire Howard Lutnick as Secretary of Commerce.
Linda McMahon , who led the US Small Business Administration from 2017–2019, is known as a longtime Trump ally who supports charter schools and school choice.
If approved by the Senate, Ms. McMahon would be the first to cut federal funding to educational institutions that promote critical race theory and gender policies.
The president-elect expects Ms. McMahon to reshape the American education system in a way that preserves traditional values.
Dr. Mehmet Oz , a former heart surgeon and television personality, has been nominated to take charge of Medicare and Medicaid — the U.S. government's two major health care programs.
Mr. Oz would oversee programs such as Medicaid, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
President-elect Trump is aiming to reform the ACA and scale back Medicaid, focusing on private-sector-led solutions.
However, the nomination has faced strong opposition. Senator Patty Murray said Mr. Oz was "unqualified" because of his past of promoting false science and extreme anti-abortion views.
In addition, Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick is expected to lead the Commerce Department. Billionaire Lutnick, a strong supporter of tariff policies, aligns with President-elect Trump's vision of protecting domestic industries.
Mr. Lutnick will oversee trade policy, economic data and technology investment, with a focus on imposing tariffs to protect American workers.
Mr Lutnick's appointment shows Mr Trump wants to promote economic nationalism, although many experts are skeptical about the effectiveness of tariffs in improving the economy.
The nominations reflect Donald Trump’s commitment to rewarding loyalty and policy priorities. Despite criticism of his qualifications, especially Dr. Mehmet Oz, supporters of the president-elect say they fit his vision of reforming government.
The announcement comes amid a debate in the US over the role of federal agencies, health care costs and education reform, which is expected to lead to hearings in the Republican-controlled Senate.
