“Russia and China are not building any military alliance along the lines of the Cold War,” Putin told Zhang at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence outside Moscow, adding that Russia-China relations were a source of stability for the world.
Mr Putin said military cooperation between Moscow and Beijing was increasing and focused on high-tech areas to ensure strategic security.
Mr Putin accused the US of creating tensions in Asia by trying to form military alliances, referring to the "AUKUS" security alliance comprising the US, Australia and the UK.
General Zhang Youxia told Mr Putin that China respected Russia for its ability to withstand what the West considered the toughest sanctions ever imposed on a major economy.
“The Russian Federation, under your leadership, has stubbornly stood up to Western sanctions, which shows that no difficulty can subdue you and Russia. For this, the Chinese side expresses respect for you,” he said.
General Truong added that his delegation came to implement important agreements and further strengthen bilateral military cooperation.
