The Central Organizing Committee announced Decision No. 1823-QDNS/TW dated January 17, 2025 of the Politburo on the transfer and appointment of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Construction to hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
On the morning of January 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to present the Politburo's Decision on personnel work. Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen attended and chaired the conference.
At the conference, the Central Organizing Committee announced Decision No. 1823-QDNS/TW dated January 17, 2025 of the Politburo on the transfer and appointment of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Construction to hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Accordingly, the Politburo decided that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister of Construction, ceased to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Construction; transferred, assigned, and appointed to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen respectfully thanked the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Organizing Committee for always paying attention to the personnel work of Ho Chi Minh City in the past time; emphasizing that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi is a cadre who has been trained systematically and formally at home and abroad, has been tested in many different fields, and in each assigned position, his superiors have assessed that he has completed well, has products and is effective.
According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi is a cadre with sufficient qualities, capacity, ethics, and style; a simple, calm, humble, approachable, upright, and sincere lifestyle; aspiration to contribute and be dedicated to the assigned work. The Politburo has considered very carefully and comprehensively before assigning him to hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Sharing the key tasks that the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee is focusing on implementing, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen expressed his belief that the new Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee will promote his capacity, strengths, and the spirit of innovation, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility to find ways to mobilize large resources, promote the development of the City, especially in the fields of understanding, implementing science and technology and digital transformation according to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, focusing on building a database to ensure the implementation of planning, construction and urban development of Ho Chi Minh City in a civilized and modern direction, improving the quality of life of the people.
The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee believes that the spirit of returning to Ho Chi Minh City this time is not only for responsibility, but also an opportunity for Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi to contribute more, build a big family (City Party Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Standing Committee of the City Party Committee); continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity to contribute to the development of the City, worthy of the expectations of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City. The Standing Committee, Standing Committee, and Executive Committee of the City Party Committee will always work together to support, share and assist Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi to excellently complete his tasks.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his joy and emotion at being assigned and appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; at the same time, he was deeply aware that this was a great pride and honor for him, but also a heavy responsibility before the Politburo, the Party Committee and the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
Thanking Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen for his speech and assignment, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that he will seriously accept the very important and profound assignment and will concretize these instructions in the process of performing the task.
The new Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee pledged to work with the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, the Standing Committee, and the Executive Committee of the City Party Committee to unite and lead and direct the implementation of important goals and tasks; join hands and unite with the collective to build the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to be increasingly clean and strong, successfully implementing the policies and resolutions of the Party, and the Resolution of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress. Thereby, bringing the City to further development, contributing worthily to the overall development of the country as desired and expected by the Central Government and the people of the City.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, born on August 12, 1976. Hometown: Ca Mau city, Ca Mau province. Qualification: PhD in Construction Engineering; Senior in Political - Administrative Theory.
He has held various positions such as: Lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture; Vice Principal, Head of Postgraduate Training Management and International Relations Department - Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture; Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Minister of Construction.
From October 2015 to October 2020, he was a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee. From October 2020 to January 2021, he was a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Party Executive Committee, Deputy Minister of Construction. From January 2021 to January 2025, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi was a member of the Party Central Committee; Secretary of the Party Executive Committee, Minister of Construction. From January 2025, he was a member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi is an alternate member of the 11th Party Central Committee; member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee; and a delegate of the 14th National Assembly.
