In recent years, Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province has encouraged people to develop organic production models, ensuring food safety, being environmentally friendly, contributing to the development of green, clean, and sustainable agriculture in the direction of "reusing livestock waste as raw materials to produce products serving the development of organic agriculture and circular agriculture".
Plants use "clean nitrogen", green environment
Tien Phuoc is a locality with strengths in agricultural production, mainly livestock and crop farming. In recent years, Tien Phuoc has had many mechanisms and policies to help people develop livestock and crop farming such as Project 02, 03 of the District People's Council and Resolution 35 of the Provincial People's Council on developing garden economy and farm economy; Resolution 24 of the Provincial People's Council on supporting the development of pig farming...
Dat Quang Organic Agricultural Cooperative is a unit that produces products from earthworms.
The production of earthworm products through the use of biotechnology recycles waste and by-products as input materials for the earthworm farming process and from earthworm processing, creating safe, high-quality products, reducing environmental pollution, protecting the ecology and human health.
To help people develop organic production models, ensure food safety, be environmentally friendly, and better understand organic agriculture and circular agriculture, recently the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Phuoc district organized a training course on the implementation of the model of "reusing livestock waste as raw materials to produce products serving the development of organic agriculture and circular agriculture" for large-scale livestock households in the district.
At the training session, delegates listened to representatives of Dat Quang organic agricultural cooperative instructing on the process of utilizing waste products in agricultural production to create organic products and a mass-scale vermiculture model; the process of creating organic products from waste by-products by fermentation and the process of building a vermiculture model; the results from building a closed cycle, creating organic products and social impacts...

Dat Quang Organic Agricultural Cooperative, located in village 7a, Tien Canh commune (Tien Phuoc), is a unit that produces products from earthworms.
The production of earthworm products through the use of biotechnology recycles waste and by-products as input materials for the earthworm farming process and from earthworm processing, creating safe, high-quality products, reducing environmental pollution, protecting the ecology and human health.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Director of Dat Quang Organic Agricultural Cooperative said that the Cooperative uses livestock and poultry manure with leaves, grass leaves, straw, leftover vegetables, and duckweed in the garden, chopped and composted until decomposed, combined with probiotics to raise earthworms.
Organic fertilizer from earthworms helps improve soil fertility, increase minerals and effective microorganisms in the soil, helping plants grow well and increase resistance to pests and diseases.
Earthworms are one of the ingredients that create organic fertilizer products, or organic values for production. Typically, making earthworm juice to make powder for livestock and poultry to increase organic nutritional value...

"Worms can be raised all year round. Each month, the cooperative brings 4-5 tons of vermicompost to the market. Each type of compost has a different price. Powdered compost costs about 4,000 VND/kg; pellets cost 15-20 thousand VND/kg; vermicompost liquid costs 80,000 VND/liter. Worm seeds alone cost about 15 thousand VND/kg. After deducting expenses, the cooperative earns nearly 200-300 million VND/year from vermicompost products.
Currently, the cooperative is expanding the scale of earthworm farming to about 5,000m2 and cooperating with some surrounding households to raise earthworms. In the Tien Phuoc cinnamon area, there are many households raising livestock and poultry on a large scale, the source of waste is a lot but has not been thoroughly treated. At the same time, Tien Phuoc farmers also develop the area of flowers and fruit trees, so the by-products are very large.
Raising earthworms will take advantage of waste from farming and livestock farming to create a source of clean organic fertilizer for crops, while reducing costs," Mr. Thanh shared.
Towards a green, sustainable agricultural model
Currently, in Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province, there are many households raising livestock and poultry on a large scale. The amount of waste from livestock farming is used as fertilizer in agricultural production. However, the waste treatment is not up to standard, affecting the environment.
The development of organic agriculture and circular agriculture will utilize waste and by-products as raw materials to become fertilizer products, the most useful products in livestock and crop farming.

Mr. Tang Ngoc Duc - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province said that the application of technology to reuse and recycle livestock waste and agricultural by-products associated with the organic agricultural production chain, serving the agricultural production economy in a circular direction; ensuring a green, clean, beautiful and safe living environment for people in rural areas.
From there, change the habits, awareness and thinking of producers and the whole population towards sustainable production and consumption, contributing to the protection of the agricultural and rural environment and towards a circular economy and green growth.
Tien Phuoc District People's Committee approved the project to implement the model of "reusing livestock waste as raw materials to produce products serving the development of organic agriculture and circular agriculture" for Dat Quang Organic Agricultural Cooperative and a number of households.
Accordingly, the total implementation cost is nearly 2.4 billion VND, of which the central and provincial budgets are 700 million VND; the cooperative contributes nearly 1.6 billion VND and the people contribute more than 101 million VND.
"Organic agricultural production and circular agriculture are suitable directions for Tien Phuoc district in the process of building a new rural district, for the health of the community and the ecological environment of the countryside.
