Hanoi: A female student at My Luong Primary School, Chuong My District, did not dare to go to school because of shame, after the image of her kneeling and undressing in front of her friends was posted online.
Mr. Hoang Minh Hien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chuong My district, said on the afternoon of May 17 that he had learned of the incident. The commune police and the school had met with the families involved, reviewed the situation and shared lessons with the students.
According to the report of the district People's Committee, on April 22, a female student in class 5D, My Luong Primary School, burned her friend's notebook. After that, she met her friend to apologize but was not accepted and was slapped. On April 29, three students in the class arranged to meet the female student at the My Luong Village Cultural House yard. There, she told her friends: "If I take off my clothes, you will forgive me" and took off her shirt. A student recorded this clip.
Before the clip was released, on May 12, the school invited the families of the three students to discuss. The parents took responsibility, went to the family of the girl who was slapped to apologize, and the family accepted.
My Luong Primary School then asked the four students involved to write a report and consider handling the violation. The school board self-criticized and criticized the homeroom teacher of class 5D. The People's Committee of Chuong My district directed the district police to verify the person who posted the video on Facebook.
On the family side, the girl who was slapped said that she showed signs of fear and did not dare to meet strangers. The family learned about the incident through people around her and discovered scratches on her body. When she learned that the clip was posted online, the girl did not dare to go to school for fear of being teased by her friends.
"My sister's mental state is currently unstable and she cries a lot," she said.
According to her, her brother was beaten and bullied many times by his friends and she reported it to the homeroom teacher, but the teacher did not take strong measures to deter him.
Recently, student fights have occurred in many localities such as Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Vinh Long, Quang Tri... On May 15, a 10th grade student at Nam Ky Khoi Nghia High School, Ho Chi Minh City was beaten by a friend and hospitalized. Previously, an 11th grade male student in Nam Dinh died after fighting with a friend.
The Ministry of Education and Training estimates that nearly 7,100 students will be involved in school violence in 2022. According to the Ministry's regulations, disciplinary action for students who violate the law currently includes three forms: warning, reprimand, and temporary suspension from school.
