Female '3 good student' with impressive achievements

Nguyen Minh Phuong (12th grade Biology student, Hanoi National University of Education High School) was honored as '3 Good Student' in 2023 with many remarkable achievements. The female student shared interesting things about her learning and training process.

Good at both culture and taekwondo

In the 2023 "3 Good Students" (good ethics, good study, good physical strength) commendation ceremony of the Hanoi Youth Union, Nguyen Minh Phuong (12th grade Biology student, Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted) was honored with proud achievements. In her studies, Phuong has always had good academic performance with an average score of 9.7 for the whole year (average score of 9.9 in math; 9.1 in literature; 9.2 in English). In particular, Phuong loves biology and has just won second prize in the national excellent student competition in this subject. Previously, Phuong won third prize in the excellent student competition at Hanoi National University of Education (equivalent to the provincial and city level). Phuong is currently one of 32 excellent students selected to participate in training for the national team to compete in the International Biology Olympiad this year.

Not only good at cultural subjects, the female student also impressed with other achievements such as: winning a gold medal in taekwondo for children and teenagers at the Capital Sports Festival (2021 - 2022); bronze medal in taekwondo at the 2022 - 2023 summer youth sports competition of Hanoi; bronze medal in the 2023 national youth taekwondo championship. Besides, Phuong actively participated in extracurricular activities such as "Red Flamboyant Campaign 2023" of the Youth Union of Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted; participated in the school's shock team in the 2022 - 2023 school year and was awarded many certificates of merit for her outstanding achievements in the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement of the school's Youth Union. Phuong also won third prize in the school-level contest "Learning about Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style".

In particular, Phuong is an active member of the Biology Club. Here, she and her friends organize many meaningful activities to help the community. Minh Phuong said that the club has organized many science fairs for young people to experience and conduct scientific experiments. From there, they create products and sell them to raise money for charity. "At each fair, we often experiment and make scientific products that young people love, such as 4-way folding glasses and many other products. With the money from selling the products, we organized a visit to support the SOS Children's Village (in Mai Dich Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi)," Phuong said. The female student also said that perhaps the trip to participate in activities at the SOS Children's Village left her with many memorable memories. "When they saw us coming, everyone in the village was very excited and eager to watch the science performances we performed. The amount of money we donated was not much, but it brought joy to the children. Seeing everyone happy, I was also happy, because I had done something meaningful," Phuong shared.

Phuong said that participating in extracurricular activities helps her acquire more knowledge and make more friends with similar interests. "Extracurricular activities, including the Biology Club, give me a lot of experience with teamwork skills and responsibility for the work I undertake," Phuong said. Sharing about her impressive achievements in taekwondo, Phuong said that she used to be a very shy girl. Her parents let her join the Hai Ba Trung District Sports Club. Phuong learned taekwondo to both train her physical strength and become more confident. When she entered high school, thanks to her efforts to win the "3 Good Students" award, Phuong actively practiced, participated in competitions and achieved proud achievements. With biology, Phuong initially only studied to compete in district and city competitions, but the more she studied, the more she loved it. "Many students think that biology is something that must be learned by heart, but that is not the case. Learning biology involves knowledge of logical reasoning and scientific knowledge related to life. If you understand this subject, it will be very helpful for daily life, because everything from the environment to daily food is related to biology," the student shared. Talking about the secret to winning high prizes in exams, Phuong said that for her, it is overcoming psychological barriers. The female student also competed in the excellent student exam but did not win high prizes, due to psychological pressure, causing anxiety and poor test performance. Therefore, Phuong has changed her concept that as long as she studies to the best of her ability and does her best, she will not have any regrets. Sharing about her plans in the near future, Phuong hopes to achieve the best results in the school year, if she is selected for the team to compete in the International Olympics, she will try her best to bring glory to the country.
