Artist Dang Thai Son accompanies the work "Echoes of Songs" by Japanese Emperor Emeritus Akihito at the ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan relations.
The ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan was held on November 28 in Tokyo, with the participation of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife, Crown Prince Akishino and Princess, Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro and many leaders of the two countries.
President Vo Van Thuong and guests enjoyed the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Concert, with performances by artists from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra of Japan, along with guest artists, under the direction of conductor Honna Tetsuji.
The program opened with a special piece , Song of Songs, written by Emperor Emeritus Akihito and composed by Empress Dowager Michiko. The piece was accompanied by Vietnamese People's Artist Dang Thai Son on the piano, Japanese artist Omiya Rintaro on the violin, and performed by singer Miura Daichi.

The two orchestras then performed world classics and closed the program with the Vietnamese folk song Trong Com .
Speaking at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that for Vietnam, Japan is not only a leading and long-term comprehensive strategic partner, but also a sincere and trustworthy companion. The development of the bilateral relationship not only brings benefits to the two peoples, but also contributes to promoting peace, stability and development in Asia and the world.
Japan is the largest partner in providing ODA, the second largest in terms of labor, the third largest in terms of investment and tourism, and the fourth largest in terms of trade of Vietnam. In contrast, Vietnam is the number one partner in terms of labor, and is the leading attractive investment and tourism destination of Japan.

Cultural, educational, local and people-to-people cooperation have become bright spots and solid bridges for the sustainable and long-term development of the relationship between the two countries. The Vietnamese community in Japan is growing stronger with more than half a million people, becoming the second largest foreign community, making a practical contribution to the development of Japan.
Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko said that Vietnam and Japan not only promote cooperation for peace and stability in the region and the world but also aim to maintain and strengthen a free, open and rule-of-law international order.
Referring to the vision for the next 50 years in bilateral relations, Ms. Yoko said that the two countries need to promote exchanges between young generations and strengthen cooperation in new areas, especially in dealing with environmental issues, green transformation, and digital transformation.
Vietnam and Japan established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1973 and established a Strategic Partnership in 2009. In 2014, the two countries established an extensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
On November 27, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world. President Vo Van Thuong assessed this as an "important event, opening a new chapter" in Vietnam-Japan relations.
