According to statistics recently released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first two months of 2024, the total export turnover of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors of the whole country is estimated at 9.84 billion USD, an increase of 50.3% over the same period in 2023. The trade surplus value reached 2.68 billion USD, an increase of nearly 2.9 times.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, most of the key products achieved high export value such as: wood products 1.68 billion USD, up 59%, coffee 1.38 billion USD, up 85%, vegetables and fruits 970 million USD, up 72.8%, rice 708 million USD, up 49.8%, cashew nuts 595 million USD, up 68.2%, shrimp 403 million USD, up 20.5%. Only pangasius exports reached only 224 million USD, down 0.7%.
The average export price of many major agricultural products in recent months has also remained quite high. For example, the average export price of rice is 699 USD/ton, up 32.2%; coffee is 3,153 USD/ton, up 44.7%; rubber is 1,429 USD/ton, up 3.4%; pepper is 4,041 USD/ton, up 28.7%; tea is 1,699 USD/ton, up 1.7%...

In terms of market, Asia is currently the main import market for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products. Exports to Asian countries and territories in the first months of the year reached 4.55 billion USD, up 43%. Of which, China and Japan are the two markets that import the most agricultural, forestry and fishery products from Vietnam, accounting for 21% and 7.2%.
Other regions such as America and Europe reached 2.31 billion USD and 1.28 billion USD, up 74.2% and 52.6% respectively. Of which, the US market alone accounted for 21.5%.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that it is continuing to handle market issues to facilitate the export of agricultural and aquatic products; implementing projects to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products to markets such as China, the US, Japan, and the EU; and opening new markets with great potential such as Halal Muslim countries, the Middle East, Africa, etc.
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also organizes 970 Forums to support agricultural product consumption connections; Seminars to disseminate information, market regulations and consumer tastes, and consumption connections through the system of trade and agricultural counselors in markets, domestic retail distribution chains, e-commerce platforms, etc. for agricultural products and OCOP products.
