DNVN - According to the Da Nang Statistics Office, the import and export situation in the city in the first 10 months of 2024 has changed positively and achieved many positive results, the trade balance of goods in the first 10 months of 2024 continues to maintain a trade surplus of 476 million USD.
The Da Nang Statistics Office estimates that in October 2024, the total two-way import and export turnover of goods will reach 264 million USD, an increase of 7.4% over the same period in 2023. In the first 10 months of 2024, the total import and export turnover of goods in Da Nang is estimated to reach nearly 2.7 billion USD, an increase of 9.5% over the same period in 2023.
The volume of container cargo through Da Nang port is increasing.
“The city government continues to make efforts to implement many solutions to boost exports; remove difficulties for production and business; promptly resolve obstacles to support businesses, contributing to promoting local economic growth,” the Da Nang Statistics Office noted.
Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company said that in order to increase the ability to meet the increasing demand of import and export activities, it is expected that in November 2024, Da Nang Port will start the investment project of Hoa Vang Logistics Center with an area of 20 hectares and a large warehouse system, serving the entire Central - Central Highlands region.
Previously, in June 2024, Da Nang Port put the container yard project behind bridge 4.5 with an area of 3.5 hectares with 04 specialized yard cranes (ERTG) into operation; in September 2024, it continued to put specialized container gantry cranes into operation on Tien Sa 4 wharf.
Thus, this pier can now operate 3 container loading and unloading cranes at the same time. The continuous improvement of the existing equipment capacity of Da Nang Port brings many benefits to ship owners through significantly higher vessel operating productivity.
In particular, from the end of 2023 until now, the reception of the WanHai 362 ship operated by Wan Hai (the 11th largest container shipping line in the world and owning 69 mother ships), belonging to the AA3 service route connecting Vietnam directly to Long Beach port - Oakland port (USA) is a major event at Tien Sa port area, making the Da Nang Port brand continue to "score points" on the world seaport map.
This is the first container ship departing from Tien Sa port carrying export goods directly to Long Beach port on the West Coast of the United States without having to transfer to any mother ship as before. WanHai 362 (Singaporean nationality, built in 2023, length 203.5m, hull width 34.8m; load capacity 36,776 DWT, capacity 3,013 TEUS) is the largest container ship ever to dock at Tien Sa 4 wharf, Da Nang port for import and export in 1 day.
According to General Director of Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company Tran Le Tuan, with the direct ship journey from Tien Sa port to Long Beach port of only about 21 days, the time has been significantly shortened compared to the previous transit time of 25 - 28 days, minimizing the risk of damage to goods or avoiding risks due to not being able to connect in time with the mother ship journey at other transit ports.
