University of Social Sciences and Humanities

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal, said that this year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will enroll 2,000 students (an increase of 350 students compared to last year), of which 50% of the enrollment quota will be based on the 2023 high school graduation exam scores. "It is expected that the admission score this year will be lower than in 2022," she said.

Last year, the admission score for the Journalism major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was up to 29.9 in group C00.

The three majors with the highest benchmark scores last year were: Korean Studies, Oriental Studies; and Public Relations, both with 29.95 points. The majors of International Studies and Office Administration (C00) had 29 points. Candidates can be completely assured that this year's benchmark scores may not be as high as last year's.

Which universities in the North are forecast to have lower benchmark scores?

Which universities in the North are forecast to have lower benchmark scores?

Hanoi University of Industry

Dr. Than Thanh Son, Head of Training Department, predicts that the admission scores for majors with the A00 combination this year will be stable or slightly decreased depending on the major, the decrease is between 0.25 and 0.5 points. In particular, majors with admission scores of 26 or higher will decrease by at least 0.25 points.

These are predictions for reference only, because the benchmark score depends not only on the admission score but also on other factors, such as the allocation quota for the method of using high school graduation exam results and the recruitment source.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Dr. Le Dinh Nam, Deputy Head of Admissions Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, commented that the benchmark scores for the Automation, Mechatronics and Mathematics majors may remain the same or not change significantly.

For the remaining groups, the scores may decrease. For some hot majors that are of interest to candidates and have high competition such as Information Technology, the benchmark score may increase slightly.

This school also predicts that the benchmark scores for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence are expected to have the highest benchmark scores - over 27.5.

The group that can get admission score of 26 - 27.5 is Control and Automation Engineering, Digital Space Security, Global ICT, Mathematics - Information Technology, Vietnam - Japan Information Technology, Vietnam - France Information Technology.

University of Commerce

Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy Head of Training Management Department, University of Commerce, said that last year, all majors of the school had a benchmark score of 25.8 or higher based on the high school graduation exam scores. Of which, the three highest majors with 27 points were: Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and E-commerce. The remaining majors commonly had a score of 26.

According to him, the 25-26 point groups this year may slightly decrease by 0.25-0.5 points. The 27 point groups "most likely" will not decrease because these are the majors with the most candidates registering.

National Economics University

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Duc Trieu, Head of Training Management Department, analyzed that although the exam questions have a higher level of differentiation than last year, the standard score this year is not much lower than last year. According to him, if there is an increase or decrease, the change is very small (0.25 - 0.5 points, depending on the major code).

As for "hot" majors such as Marketing, International Business, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, in 2022 the benchmark score was over 28, and this year it is difficult to increase it higher. Candidates can refer to the benchmark score in 2022 as a basis to adjust their wishes accordingly, Mr. Trieu noted.

University of Transport

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Head of the Testing and Quality Assurance Department, predicted that the benchmark score based on the graduation exam score method will decrease. Ms. Hoa gave two reasons.

Firstly, the score distribution of Math, Physics, and Chemistry in this year's graduation exam has fewer excellent scores than last year (scores above 8). This shows that the exam has better differentiation than previous years.

Second, the way to add priority points is different from previous years. Specifically, a candidate in region 1, priority group 1, will always be given 2.75 points regardless of how many points he or she gets. This year, if the same candidate has a total score of 22.5 points or more, the bonus points will gradually decrease, depending on the total score of the 3 subjects. The higher the total score of the 3 subjects, the less bonus points according to the priority system and priority area.

"For the above two reasons, the predicted admission score to the University of Transport will decrease this year. For majors with scores above 24, the admission score may decrease by 0.5 - 1 point. For majors with scores lower than 24 last year, the admission score may decrease by 0.2 - 0.5 points" - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa analyzed.

University of Science

Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son, Vice Principal of the University of Natural Sciences, predicted that the benchmark score for block A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) may decrease slightly by 0.5 - 1.5 points compared to last year. Block A01 (Math, Physics, English) will be equivalent or decrease by about 0.5 - 1. Meanwhile, block B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology) may fluctuate by 0.5 - 1 point.

According to Mr. Son, candidates who scored from 20 to under 23 this year are also considered average. At this score range, students can consider majors in the Earth Science block: Meteorology and Climatology, Water Resources and Environment, Geology, Physical Geography, Environmental Resources Monitoring and Monitoring Technology, and Environmental Engineering Technology.

Candidates with scores of 24 - 25 should boldly put their first and second choices in the majors they love.
