Apple CEO Tim Cook just revealed a new product that will be launched this week, most likely the MacBook Air M4 model.
Here's what we know about the new MacBook Air M4.
Design
There are no rumors of design changes, so the MacBook Air M4 will likely be identical to the current versions and launch in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes.

The last time Apple refreshed the MacBook Air's design was in 2022, so it makes sense to keep the design the same for three years.
Screen
Apple is using mini-LED display technology for the MacBook Pro, but this may still be a premium privilege. Therefore, the MacBook Air M4 will most likely continue to use Liquid Retina Display (LED) technology like the current models.

With the recent MacBook Pro refresh, Apple added an anti-glare nano-texture display upgrade option to the MacBook Pro. While it’s possible that this new feature could also make its way to the MacBook Air, there’s no guarantee that it could remain an option on the high-end line.
M4 Chip
The M4 chip has appeared in many products such as MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iMac, and Mac mini, so its presence in MacBook Air is not a surprise.
The M4 chip will definitely be present on the MacBook Air M4 |
The M4 chip has up to 10 CPU cores, 10 GPU cores, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It is built on TSMC's improved 3nm process and is designed to support Apple Intelligence.
The M4 chip will have better performance than the M3 chip, but not a huge leap. The CPU and GPU are expected to see a performance improvement of about 25%.
RAM
The current MacBook Air starts with 16GB of RAM, up from 8GB previously — a change Apple made last year. The M4 MacBook Air models are expected to retain the standard 16GB of RAM.
Battery life
Thanks to the power-saving capabilities of the M4 chip, the new MacBook Air can improve battery life. For example, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip can operate up to 24 hours of video playback and 16 hours of web browsing.
FaceTime Camera
The MacBook Pro recently got a 12MP front-facing camera upgrade from Apple, and it's likely that the new MacBook Air will get the same update. The camera supports Center Stage, which helps keep your subject in the center of the frame even when moving.
Additionally, it can also support Desk View, providing a top-down view of the desk, useful for presentations or demos.
Thunderbolt port
Currently, the MacBook Air will have two Thunderbolt 3 ports, but new models can be upgraded to three Thunderbolt 4 ports, upgrading both speed and connectivity.
The new MacBook Pro models can support two external displays when the lid is open, and it's likely the new MacBook Air will have similar specs.
Selling price
The MacBook Air M3 currently starts at $1,099, with no word on a price change for the M4 version.
