Let's keep Phu Quy Island green
On the boat to Phu Quy Island, which usually departs at 7am every day, there is a reminder "Do not bring plastic waste to the island", to keep the island free of waste and always clean.
Many young people traveling to Phu Quy often remind each other to "only bring back beautiful photos and leave nothing but footprints".
With 48 summer volunteers from Ho Chi Minh City, they came and left only volunteer works on the island, contributing to beautifying the island and supporting the people and children.
After two weeks of campaigning, the soldiers completed the “National Flag Road” with 200 flags along the tree-lined road. They also painted coastal embankments, repaired charity houses for poor households, installed solar street lights, and built libraries for students…

Volunteer soldiers are not afraid of rain or shine
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tho (35 years old), working at Saigontourist Group, said he had just returned from a company trip to Phu Quy Island not long before the summer volunteer campaign, but still decided to become a volunteer soldier and return to Phu Quy because he loves the beauty of the island.
Working as receptionists at the Majestic Saigon Hotel, he and his teammates braved the sun and rain for two weeks on the island.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Head of the School Youth Committee (Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union), commander of the summer volunteer campaign in Phu Quy island district - said that this year, 48 soldiers from Ho Chi Minh City are young people from companies, businesses and students from many universities coming to the island.
"Most of the soldiers are not used to the hot weather on the island, while the activities are mainly done outdoors. However, everyone tries their best to complete the mission," Trung shared.
