Previously, at around 6:00 p.m. on April 1, fishing boat Bth 97877 TS, operating in the logistics of catching aquatic resources and aquatic products, was operating in the sea area about 27 nautical miles from Phu Quy island when it was damaged and the boat sank.
Immediately after receiving the news, the Provincial Border Guard Command directed the Phu Quy Border Guard Station to prepare the crew of CN 09 BP 11.19.01 with 14 officers and soldiers to go to the scene and mobilize a number of local fishing boats to organize and coordinate the rescue. After about 18 hours, the rescue forces successfully rescued 22 workers on the sunken fishing boat.

According to document 1354, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Huu Huy directed the People's Committee of Phu Quy district to coordinate with the Provincial Border Guard Command to visit, encourage, provide material and spiritual support, and create the best conditions for fishermen in distress to stabilize soon and continue to go out to sea; guide and support ship owners in distress to complete insurance procedures according to regulations.
In addition, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue to closely coordinate with the Central and local hydrometeorological forecasting agencies to regularly update forecast information and timely warn of all types of natural disasters to the authorities and people to proactively prevent, avoid and respond.
At the same time, coordinate with the Provincial Border Guard Command and Phu Quy District People's Committee to propose a list of individuals and organizations with achievements in rescue work for fishing boat Bth 97877 TS to submit to competent authorities for timely rewards.
