Dong Hung: Speeding up the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households

Together with other localities, Dong Hung district is resolutely accelerating the implementation of the project to support poor and near-poor households to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area in the period of 2024 - 2025. Each house built contributes to helping families stabilize their lives and develop their economy with peace of mind.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ran, Nam Song village, Ha Giang commune, is excited in her newly built house with an area of ​​over 40 square meters .

Ms. Lai Thi Tinh, Tay Dong Hai village, Dong Vinh commune, 60 years old, is a single-parent household, a near-poor household in the commune. In recent years, Ms. Tinh has lived in a level 4 house that has been seriously degraded and unsafe. Implementing the project to support poor and near-poor households to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Dong Hung district in the period of 2024 - 2025 and the call for the whole population to participate in supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Ms. Tinh has built a new house with an area of ​​over 30m2 , designed with 1 room, with adjacent auxiliary works; the total construction cost is 150 million VND, of which the project support cost is 100 million VND, the family mobilized 24.8 million VND, brothers, relatives, and local organizations supported working days worth 25.2 million VND. Ms. Tinh confided: My health is weak, so I cannot work to earn extra income; Apart from cultivating 1 sao of rice field, I only depend on monthly allowance. That is why, for many years, I did not dare to dream of owning a house. Now, I am very happy to receive support to build a house, no longer worried about storms.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ran, Nam Song village is one of the poor households in Ha Giang commune that received financial support to build a house from the project to support poor and near-poor households to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Dong Hung district in the period of 2024 - 2025. As a single-parent household, old age, and suffering from a serious illness, her family's situation is very difficult. Ms. Ran shared: Many times when I think back, I think I'm dreaming. If there was no policy to support poor and near-poor households to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, I could not have built a new house like today. From 100 million VND in support from the project, 10 million VND in support from the "For the Poor" fund of Ha Giang commune and support from relatives and friends, after just over 2 months of construction, in early January 2025, my family's house with an area of ​​over 40m2 was completed. I thank the Party, State and local authorities for helping me fulfill my dream and stabilize my life.

Through screening, the whole Dong Hung district has more than 470 poor and near-poor households living in dilapidated houses, of which more than 330 households need and are eligible for financial support. To date, more than 220 households have started construction and repair, of which more than 50 have completed; nearly 110 households will start construction in April 2025. As one of the localities actively implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households, in just 5 years since the merger, Ha Giang commune has eliminated 14 temporary and dilapidated houses. Mr. Dang Van Khang, Chairman of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee, said: From the financial support from higher levels and the propaganda and mobilization of local Party committees and authorities for agencies, departments, branches, and benefactors, in 2025, Ha Giang commune will continue to support 4 poor and near-poor households to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Up to now, 1 house has been put into use, 3 houses are under construction and completion; the whole commune strives to complete the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households by the end of June 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Bau, Vice Chairman of Dong Hung District People's Committee, said: Dong Hung strives to complete the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the area before June 30, 2025. To achieve that goal, in the coming time, the district will strengthen the direction of specialized departments, communes and towns to regularly monitor, inspect, supervise, grasp and evaluate the situation of organizing the implementation of the project in the area to ensure effectiveness, on schedule and in accordance with the provisions of law; urge and guide nearly 110 remaining households to prepare conditions to start building houses according to the registered schedule; continue to disseminate, propagate and mobilize cadres, party members, union members, association members and people to actively respond and participate in supporting the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in appropriate forms; Strengthen inspection of the use of allocated funds and socialized resources to ensure efficiency, correct use, no duplicate, insufficient, or incorrect allocation...

With the funding supported by the project, Ms. Dang Thi My's family, Dong Tam village, Ha Giang commune, built a new house with an area of ​​over 30 square meters .
