On the afternoon of January 16, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Bac Lieu City held a ceremony to hand over houses and give Tet gifts to poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in the city.
At the ceremony, Ms. Lam Bich Niem, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Lieu City, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Program "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" of the city (referred to as the Steering Committee) briefly informed about the implementation and results of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.
Based on the plan of the Steering Committee of wards and communes, 43 poor households and 230 near-poor households were screened, of which 27 poor and near-poor households were facing housing difficulties and were eligible to build houses during this period.
Immediately after that, the Steering Committee urgently implemented the construction of 27 houses, of which 10 houses were supported with 70 million VND, the rest were supported with 60 million VND/house (Central capital source 50 million VND, source of the "For the Poor" Fund of the province 10 million VND).
With the efforts and determination of the Steering Committee, sectors and levels, the city has completed the construction program of 27/27 houses in time so that people can enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet in new, spacious and warm houses.
On this occasion, the Steering Committee presented a symbolic handover board of 27 houses to disadvantaged households; presented 100 Tet gifts to poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households, each worth 1 million VND, including 700,000 VND in cash and gifts worth 300,000 VND.
