Many notable changes in university admissions plans

(PLVN) - In 2025, many universities will increase enrollment targets, change admission methods and open many new majors.

The Academy of Finance has just announced its plan for regular university admissions in 2025. This year, the Academy plans to enroll 6,320 regular university students this year (an increase of 1,820 compared to last year) using 4 methods. Specifically, including: Direct admission and priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; admission of candidates with outstanding abilities; admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam; combined admission.

Compared to last year, this year the Academy of Finance will eliminate the method of selecting candidates using the results of the Hanoi National University's competency assessment test; and will eliminate the method of selecting candidates using the results of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment test. In 2024, the Academy will reserve at least 5% of its enrollment quota for candidates participating in the selection based on the results of these two separate exams.

Another new point is that the Academy has added 14 new training programs, including 9 international certificate-oriented programs to meet the candidates' needs for in-depth study according to world standards, 5 new standard programs with majors/training programs that are at the forefront of current trends such as: Data Science in Finance; Artificial Intelligence in Finance - Accounting; Political Economy - Finance; Law; Financial Mathematics.

Specific targets of training programs and admission methods will be announced by the Academy of Finance after receiving guidance documents from the Ministry of Education and Training.

Hanoi National University has also announced the total enrollment target for 12 training units with 20,285, an increase of more than 2,200 targets compared to last year (in 2024, 13 units with 18,000 targets).

Of which, the University of Technology is assigned the most quota with 3,900 quotas, an increase of 940 quotas compared to 2024. Next is the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with 2,650 quotas, an increase of 350 quotas; the University of Economics enrolls 2,500 quotas, an increase of 150 quotas and the University of Foreign Languages ​​with 2,400 quotas, an increase of 400 quotas. Vietnam-Japan University and the School of Business Administration still maintain the same enrollment quotas compared to last year, respectively 450 quotas and 500 quotas.

In addition, Hanoi National University also assigned 1,500 enrollment quotas for the work-study program and 810 dual degree quotas to a number of training institutions.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to increase its enrollment target in 2025 to 9,680 students (last year 9,260 students) based on 3 methods, increasing the chances of admission for candidates. The school will consider adding the K01 combination based on the high school graduation exam scores used for all majors and opening 1 new major.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology will eliminate the division of talent admission quotas, thinking assessment test scores and graduation scores in the ratio of 20-40-40% as planned.

In 2025, Banking Academy plans to enroll 3,644 students, an increase of more than 100 compared to last year. Admission methods include: Direct admission; admission based on high school academic results; admission based on international certificate results; admission based on the results of competency assessment exams; admission based on the results of the 2025 high school exam.

Hanoi University of Industry plans to enroll 7,990 students in 62 majors and training programs in 2025, an increase of 340 targets compared to 2024.

The school uses 5 methods including: direct admission (no quota limit), considering international certificate scores or excellent student awards combined with the transcript scores of all three years of high school of three subjects in a combination (10%); based on graduation exam results (80%); based on the capacity assessment test scores of Hanoi National University combined with transcripts (5%) and the thinking assessment test results of Hanoi University of Science and Technology combined with transcripts (5%).

Compared to last year, Hanoi University of Industry stopped considering academic transcript scores independently, instead combining this criterion with international certificates, excellent student awards, and test scores to assess capacity and thinking.

This year, the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) does not consider admission based on the combination of A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and D07 (Math, Chemistry, English). The school uses two traditional combinations: A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, English, Literature), and adds two new combinations: Math, English, Informatics and Math, English, Economic and Legal Education.

Regarding admission methods, the School plans to use 3 main methods in 2025, including: Direct admission and priority direct admission (maximum 20% of the target); considering capacity assessment test scores (maximum 40-60%); considering high school graduation exam scores (maximum 30-50%).

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science plans to enroll students in 3 ways: Direct admission and priority admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh City National University, combining international language certificates with high school study results; admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam; admission based on the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam.

This year, the school will enroll the first class of Educational Technology with a target of about 70 students. In addition, the school is also building other interdisciplinary majors such as Integrated Science or Land Economics...
