At a press conference providing information on the activities of the Ministry of Information and Communications on the afternoon of April 8, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen - Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution said that, following the success of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in recent years, the Ministry of Information and Communications has issued plans to organize the 3rd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day and celebration activities.

To implement the above plans, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Hanoi People's Committee and other ministries and localities to organize many diverse activities and events to honor Books and promote the development of reading culture across the country.

"This is also an opportunity for us to honor typical collectives and individuals in publishing activities, developing reading culture in the media, newspapers, technology platforms, and social networks to widely spread the value of books and reading culture in the community; connect domestic and foreign readers; contribute to building a spiritual and cultural life, promoting the moral values ​​and traditions of learning of the nation," said Mr. Nguyen.

The 3rd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is organized in a diverse and rich way, combining traditional activities with modern organization methods following the development trend of technology platforms and digital transformation such as: Direct book fair; Online book fair on technology platforms; Direct book fair combined with online; Book fair with non-cash payment; exchanging accumulated reward points of customers at some commercial banks for gifts in the form of books; combining communication, promoting books and reading culture on electronic newspaper columns and social networks.

The series of activities of the Third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024, with the messages: "Good books need readers"; "Precious books for friends"; "Give good books - Buy real books"; "Good books: Eyes to read - Ears to listen" will be held throughout April 2024, focusing on April 17, 2024 to May 1, 2024.

Specifically, the main events include: First, the opening ceremony of the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day will be held at 7:00 p.m. on April 17, 2024 at the Temple of Literature (58 Quoc Tu Giam Street, Van Mieu Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi).

The opening ceremony of the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day will be held on April 17, 2024.

The second is the Exhibition and Book Fair to celebrate the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024. In which, the exhibition displays valuable books about the special national historical site of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam; photos and books about the country and people of Vietnam on modern electronic versions and direct publications.

It is expected that about 60 units will participate, display, introduce and provide readers with over 40,000 valuable books.

Third, the Online Exhibition and Book Fair serves overseas Vietnamese. The exhibition will display valuable books on the following topics: Propaganda of the Party and State's guidelines; books by President Ho Chi Minh and other Party and State leaders; works and research on Vietnam's unique culture, literature and arts; works and research written and published in foreign languages ​​in recent times.

Fourth, organize the Launching Ceremony of Youth Reading Day to encourage and develop the reading movement in the community, especially the reading movement among the young generation, create a favorable reading environment, form reading habits in families, schools, agencies, organizations, contributing to building a learning society.

Fifth, activities to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day nationwide. In response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, ministries, branches, central organizations and unions will organize many diverse, rich and practical activities to promote and develop reading culture in each agency, unit, school as well as the whole society .
