(CLO) On the afternoon of March 29, as part of the activities of the 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship - 2025 (Tien Phong Marathon 2025), the Organizing Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony to build 10 charity houses for former youth volunteers and disadvantaged households in Quang Tri province.
Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper, co-head of the organizing committee of Tien Phong Marathon 2025 said: "Throughout nearly 75 years of operation and striving, the revolutionary tradition and qualities of the Youth Volunteers during the resistance war have been promoted and nurtured until today and have always been a model for the younger generation to learn from, follow in the footsteps of their fathers and brothers, and join hands to carry out the cause of innovation, building and defending the Fatherland".

Journalist Phung Cong Suong said: "Although the war has long since ended, its consequences are still very severe in many aspects. Currently, many former Youth Volunteers and many households in Quang Tri province are in very difficult circumstances, living in temporary and dilapidated houses. For many years, Tien Phong newspaper has actively participated in activities to repay gratitude, remember the source of water, and turn to former Youth Volunteers to express gratitude for the sacrifices of previous generations, regaining independence and freedom for the Fatherland."
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Quoc Toan said that in the whole Quang Tri province, there are 7,663 households in need of support with a total estimated budget of 414 billion VND. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan expressed his gratitude to Tien Phong newspaper and Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation for their interest and financial support to start the construction of 10 charity houses, bringing a warm home to former Youth Volunteers as well as households in difficult circumstances.
The family representative of Ms. Hoang Thi Suu also sent deep thanks to the noble gesture of the Organizing Committee of Tien Phong Marathon 2025, helping her stabilize her life.
