Many flights affected by fog in Nghe An, Thanh Hoa

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, on the morning of January 24, some airports in the Northern region were affected by fog and low visibility. As a result, some flights had to wait or divert, affecting the operating plans of airlines and the quality of service for passengers.

Specifically, from 1:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on January 24, due to fog at Vinh airport, 5 Vietnam Airlines flights to Vinh had to divert to Noi Bai airport. This situation caused 4 flights to be delayed and had a chain reaction affecting several other flights during the day.

During the above period, Vietjet had 1 flight to Vinh and 1 flight to Tho Xuan airport (Thanh Hoa) that had to be diverted to Noi Bai airport. At the same time, 5 Vietjet flights were delayed and had a chain reaction affecting a number of other flights during the day.

Faced with adverse weather conditions, airlines used buses to transport passengers from flights that had to be diverted from Noi Bai airport to Vinh and Thanh Hoa.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, as a rule, in the first quarter of each year, some airports in the North are affected by fog, limited visibility causing disruption to operations.

To support passengers when flights are diverted or delayed, airlines have plans to transport passengers from airports with diverted flights to the local airport according to the itinerary on the passenger's ticket.

The fog in the northern region is forecast to continue in the coming days and may affect flights to and from airports in this region such as Noi Bai, Tho Xuan, Vinh, and Hai Phong.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested airlines to promptly update information to passengers in case of flight delays or diversions, serve passengers attentively and thoughtfully, and fully fulfill the obligations of airlines to passengers.
