That is the precious sentiment that the cadres, party members, and people of Thanh Hoa have for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, when sharing with us.

During 14 years as General Secretary, more than 2 years as President, more than 5 years as Chairman of the National Assembly, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, together with the Party Central Committee and the Government, has led the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to achieve many outstanding achievements, bringing the country's potential, position and international prestige to increasingly heighten. However, the General Secretary has always maintained a simple, calm and extremely modest demeanor. "Not only is he an outstanding, intelligent and talented leader, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is also a model for a simple, close and intimate leadership style. It is that intimacy and closeness that makes me feel no distance every time I meet the General Secretary" - Comrade Dinh Tien Phong, former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Veterans Association shared.

Having met and worked with the General Secretary many times while still in office, comrade Dinh Tien Phong said: “Amidst the country's busy work, the General Secretary still pays special attention to Thanh Hoa. Since holding the position of Chairman of the National Assembly and later General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has visited the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Hoa many times. The last time was exactly 10 years ago, when I was Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the province. With a far-sighted vision and a clear understanding of the strategic position of the land of "geomancy and talent", the General Secretary has suggested and oriented many major issues when working with key officials of the province. The General Secretary has pointed out that, in order to develop quickly and strongly, Thanh Hoa must find a direction for industrial development, making industry the driving force of economic development. In particular, in order for the mountainous districts to catch up with the lowlands, it is necessary to pay attention to investing in the development of the western region of Thanh Hoa. For rural areas, the General Secretary emphasized that people should not only live on rice but also prioritize the development of crops that are the strengths of each region to create high-value export products. With the clear direction and orientation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, generations of leaders of Thanh Hoa province have innovated their thinking, taken drastic actions, and at the same time taken advantage of the attention of Party and State leaders, and the support of central ministries and branches to build an increasingly strong economic potential. Accordingly, in economic development, Thanh Hoa prioritizes the development of dynamic industrial zones, creating important premises and foundations for industry to "take off" in the following years and "breakthrough" in recent years. For the Western region, Thanh Hoa has issued many programs and projects, and effectively integrated a number of central policies to stimulate socio-economic development, helping the western districts of Thanh Hoa "breakthrough" to develop.

Looking back ten years ago - in 2014 when the General Secretary visited and worked in our province, Thanh Hoa was still a poor land, without many outstanding developments. However, 10 years later, Thanh Hoa has every right to be proud of becoming a bright spot in the country on the socio-economic development scale with many important indicators establishing unprecedented impressive numbers.

Having worked at the Provincial Police, Mr. Nguyen Huu Lo, Party Secretary of Phu Tho 1 Residential Group, Phu Son Ward (Thanh Hoa City) shared: “It can be said that one of the great successes that left a strong impression in the three recent National Party Congresses is the result of the fight against corruption and negativity, in which the General Secretary was the one who lit the fire, spread the fire and kept the fire burning for the entire political system to participate. Never before has this difficult, complicated and sensitive work brought such enthusiasm to the people”. Mr. Nguyen Huu Lo said that the General Secretary's easy-to-understand, easy-to-remember, easy-to-implement but very profound and penetrating sayings have become a strong "message", an "order" that contributes to pushing back the "war" against corruption and negativity, further strengthening the people's trust in the Party. “When the furnace is hot, even fresh wood will burn” or “If anyone is discouraged, step aside and let others do it” clearly demonstrate the General Secretary’s uncompromising spirit. Anti-corruption has no forbidden areas, but it is not only about disciplining officials, but “disciplining a few people to save thousands”. Disciplining officials must be combined with building a team of officials, building is the main thing, creating an environment that encourages officials to work. That is also one of the contents that demonstrates the strict but very humane viewpoint of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Sustainable development requires a balance and harmony between economy and culture. If economy is the material foundation, culture is the spiritual foundation for all development. “If we just say the two words “respect”, it is certainly not enough for each young party member, union member and youth to fully express their feelings for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong” - Mr. Le Ngoc Anh, Secretary of the Thanh Hoa City Youth Union shared. As a young Secretary of the Youth Union, Le Ngoc Anh always remembers the General Secretary’s advice to the youth about the “5 pioneers” in his speech at the 12th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, term 2022-2027. In which, the first “pioneer” that the General Secretary advised Vietnamese youth was “pioneer in cultivating revolutionary ethics”. Revolutionary ethics is one of the phrases that the General Secretary frequently uses when discussing the work of Party building and rectification, and he himself is a shining example for cadres, party members and Vietnamese youth to follow. “Although I have not had the opportunity to meet the General Secretary in person, the image of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is very close to me. The more we respect and remember the advice that the General Secretary gave to the young generation, the more we must strive and make more efforts in studying and working to demonstrate the pioneering spirit that the General Secretary has entrusted to the young generation of the whole country" - Secretary of the Thanh Hoa City Youth Union Le Ngoc Anh emphasized.

“In any position, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always admonishes himself and cultivates the four virtues of “diligence, thrift, integrity, and uprightness” that President Ho Chi Minh taught during his lifetime. Respect, admiration, regret, affection... are the sincere feelings that every Thanh Hoa citizen has for the General Secretary. A great heart has stopped beating, a talented, simple and honest man has gone far away. Painful loss but very proud. Although General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is no longer here, his life of activities and dedication to the revolutionary cause of the Party, along with his affection and care for Thanh Hoa will forever be a support, a great source of spiritual encouragement for the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Hoa to constantly strive to rise up, determined to build Thanh Hoa homeland to soon become a new growth pole, together with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh to form a development quadrangle in the North of the Fatherland, contributing with the whole country to successfully complete the goals set by the 13th National Party Congress.
