With the dominance of its older brothers and the lack of quality contestants, can Rap Viet continue after season 4 ends?

With season 4 just ending, Rap Viet has had the most satisfying results ever. Robber is the champion and GILL is the runner-up. That is the most convincing ending to this year's competition season.

Obstacles from the brothers

This year's show has a lineup of contestants that are quite familiar to the audience, such as GILL, Mason Nguyen, willistic, Coldzy, Saabirose or media-attracting factors like Manbo, HIEUTHUHAI's close friend in the Gerdnang team.

The team also made efforts to innovate, from the idea of first choice or blocking to inviting Thai rapper F.Hero, Korean hip hop star Changmo for the Conquest round and the Final. That investment is commendable and also partly helps Rap Viet increase the discussion in terms of media while being more attractive and quality in terms of content.

However, Rap Viet no longer holds the monopoly as the show did when it aired the previous 3 seasons. Season 4 had a more gloomy start than the previous seasons. It was not until episode 7, when the hip hop confrontation rounds of Karik's team aired, that the audience felt like they were entering a real battle.

The biggest disadvantage is that at the time of the show's broadcast, the majority of the audience was caught up in the craze for the brothers, including "Say Hi" Brother, also organized by the same unit behind Rap Viet. Just a week before the Rap Viet finale aired, Anh trai "say hi" successfully organized 2 concerts on December 7 and 9 in Hanoi and according to information just announced by the program crew, these concerts attracted up to 90,000 spectators.

Then on the same day Rap Viet entered the most important competition, which was the announcement of the results, on the evening of December 14, the concert Anh trai vu ngan cong gai took place in Hung Yen. The competition of hot music topics unintentionally distracted the audience's attention. They no longer focused on Rap Viet like before, but gradually found new hobbies.

The Rap Viet final is in 4th place with 98,000 discussions, a very modest number compared to the first 2 rankings.

According to Socialtrend, among the most discussed hot topics on social networks in 24 hours, from 9pm on December 15 to 9pm on December 16, Anh trai vuon ngan cong nong gai ranked first with more than 126,000 discussions. Rap Viet ranked second in that comparison chart with 46,000 discussions.

Shortage of candidates?

Suboi even entered the final round of Rap Viet season 4 with a lackluster lineup, quite similar to her own situation in the first season. However, if in season 1, she was talented, then in the latest season, almost no one in Suboi's team was strong enough to fight in the final round. In addition to the departure of two strong faces, Dangrangto from BigDaddy's team and QueenB from Karik's team, the Rap Viet final became predictable, with few surprises. Manbo made it to the top 3 but was also involved in a lot of controversy. According to comments from many viewers on social networks, HIEUTHUHAI's teammates were considered unworthy.

In fact, Rap Viet has entered season 4, so it is difficult to avoid the situation of a shortage of contestants. Therefore, even the champion Robber and runner-up GILL are old faces, having competed in previous seasons and now returning to Rap Viet season 4.

In the context of Rap Viet being judged to have a decline in quality and Anh trai “say hi” being too hot, the audience is wondering whether this show can have a season 5 or not. Not to mention, the production unit of Rap Viet is preparing to release Em xinh “say hi”.

Anh trai “say hi” season 2 and Em xinh “say hi” are lining up to air, making Rap Viet's chances of returning slim, at least in 2025.
