Ms. Nguyen Thi Du (black shirt, 62 years old, in Soc Son, Hanoi) was present at the airport at 12:30 to welcome the Vietnamese team back home.
Mrs. Du said that last night her whole family had an explosive and joyful football viewing session, the atmosphere was as joyful as Tet.
This morning, when she heard the news that the players were returning home, she asked her son-in-law to take her five sisters out to pick up the players.
Ms. Du expressed her regret for Xuan Son, hoping that the player would recover soon and return to competition. At the same time, she wished the Vietnamese team good health and good form.
Ms. Duong Thi Nga (Tu Yen, Song Lo, Vinh Phuc) also brought her whole family to Noi Bai airport to wait for the Vietnamese team. Ms. Nga said that she had planned to go welcome the Vietnamese team since last night. She bought banners and red flag shirts with yellow stars for the whole family.
“The children had a day off from school in the afternoon, so my husband and I traveled more than 50km to get here. We only ate some bread but we weren’t hungry. We were very excited to meet the heroes of Vietnamese football,” said Ms. Nga.
As scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on January 6, the Vietnam national football team will arrive at Noi Bai airport (Hanoi).
The Vietnamese team defeated host Thailand 3-2 in the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final on the evening of January 5, thereby winning the championship with a final score of 5-3 after two matches.
Also as planned, a double-decker bus will transport the team from Noi Bai airport to the center of Hanoi. An ambulance will enter the plane's elevator, taking player Nguyen Xuan Son straight to the hospital.
At 6:00 p.m. the same day, the Vietnamese team will meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Government headquarters.
Coach Kim Sang Sik (Korean) will return home for a short vacation from January 10, before returning to Vietnam to watch the upcoming V-League matches.
The Vietnam national team will regroup before the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, taking place at the end of March.
