Today's USD exchange rate (April 13): Early morning on April 13, the State Bank of Vietnam announced that the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong against the US Dollar increased by 37 dong this week, currently standing at 24,923 dong.
The USD Index (DXY), which measures the dollar's fluctuations against six major currencies, fell 3.14% this week to 99.78.

In early trading this week, the US dollar rose 0.45% to 103.47 as concerns about a global recession increased after US President Donald Trump imposed comprehensive tariffs on trading partners. Conversely, the European Commission proposed a 25% tariff on a range of US goods on April 7th in response to Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminum. Meanwhile, the British pound hit a one-month low of $1.27125 and closed down 1.3% against the greenback. Although the US dollar is often known as a safe-haven asset, it is gradually losing its status following issues surrounding tariff policies and concerns about their impact on US economic growth.

On April 9th, the US dollar fell 0.35% to 102.91 as investors focused on trade disputes following the US President's tariff policies. In addition, markets were preparing for a potential trade war between the US and China. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer told US senators that the Trump administration would not back down on its trade strategy in the near future.
After remaining unchanged on April 10th, the DXY index continued its plunge, falling by 1.99% to 100.91 as the market reacted to the latest information from the US President regarding tariff policy. The US leader stunned financial markets by temporarily suspending the high tariffs on trading partners that had taken effect less than 24 hours earlier. Trump issued a 90-day freeze on the tariff policy, but maintained a general tariff of 10% for most countries. However, tariffs on imports from China were increased to 125%, effective immediately, after China retaliated against previous US tariffs with an 84% tariff. The total US tariffs on imports from China are now 145%, according to the White House.
The US dollar closed the trading week down 1.08%, at 99.78, amid a tit-for-tat tariff war that shook investor confidence in the greenback's safety. Brad Bechtel, global FX director at Jefferies, said the dollar's decline was partly due to the view that the US economy is weakening – with the possibility of a recession looming – along with a shift from the dollar as a safe-haven asset to the Japanese yen and Swiss franc. Data released on April 11 showed that US consumer sentiment worsened in April, while 12-month inflation expectations surged to their highest level since 1981 amid concerns about trade tensions.
