The Gia Nghia City Central Square Project was approved by the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee for its investment and construction feasibility study report in August 2022. The project is invested and constructed on an area of more than 19 hectares, within the administrative boundaries of 3 wards: Nghia Duc, Nghia Trung and Nghia Thanh, Gia Nghia City.

Gia Nghia City Central Square is located in a beautiful, large-scale area and is expected to create an important highlight when completed.

According to the approved 1/500 detailed planning, the Central Square land area combined with the commercial center is nearly 7 hectares wide, accounting for about 36% of the project area. Traffic land accounts for more than 4.6 hectares and landscape axis land accounts for more than 3.1 hectares. The remaining area is planned for water surface (2.4 hectares); park land, outdoor sports activities (more than 1.2 hectares) and entertainment and service area land (0.95 hectares).

The exhibition center category of Gia Nghia City Central Square Project has basically completed the rough construction.

Gia Nghia City Central Square has a total investment of 400 billion VND from the central budget. The project invests in items such as: exhibition center (total floor area of over 23,300m2), bridge over Ha Lake, landscape axes, performance stage, equipment...

In terms of scale, area and investment level, Gia Nghia City Central Square is one of the major projects of Dak Nong. The Central Square, after completion, will be a highlight of landscape architecture. This is also a venue for political, economic, cultural and social activities and events and a place for entertainment for people.

The Gia Nghia Central Square yard is still short of 140,000m3 of land to be leveled with the central building. From the current ground, it is necessary to raise about 10m to reach the square yard which has been basically completed.

The project is expected to attract tourists and create tourism products for the locality upon completion. Dak Nong aims to complete the project before the 20th anniversary of the province's founding (January 1, 2004 - January 1, 2024).

However, the project could not be completed on time. The project implementation process encountered obstacles due to the shortage of fill soil. The project required a large volume of fill soil (about 350,000m3) but at the time of implementation, Dak Nong province did not have any licensed soil mines to be used as common construction materials for filling.

Gia Nghia City Central Square Project has a total investment of 400 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2022 to 2025. To date, the project has disbursed 259/400 billion VND.

The project's site clearance work has encountered many difficulties and challenges. The Gia Nghia City People's Committee has just reclaimed the core area of land to hand over to the Dak Nong Province Investment and Construction Project Management Board for the construction of the square. Currently, the entire project still has 7.81 hectares of land clearance that has not been completed.

Many items of Gia Nghia City Central Square Project are completing the final stages.

The core of the square has been handed over and construction has begun since the end of 2022. As of the end of March 2025, the project has achieved about 64% of the contracted construction volume. Most of the construction volume is concentrated in the exhibition center category.

Construction is sluggish, the project is facing pressure on the progress of public investment disbursement. The project has been allocated 400 billion VND (100% of the total investment) but by March 2025, only more than 259 billion VND has been disbursed. The allocated budget for 2025 alone is nearly 141 billion VND.

The square is a key project of Dak Nong province with the goal of creating a cultural, political and economic space. This project is highly expected by the government and people of Dak Nong in general and Gia Nghia city in particular.

Gia Nghia City Central Square is expected to create a public space that the city has lacked for a long time.

During the process of land acquisition in the core area, many people proactively handed over the land to the State. Some people had questions with the State about compensation prices, resettlement, support policies, etc. However, after that, all 100 households in the core area of the project handed over the land to the State without having to carry out forced land acquisition.

Everyone hopes that the square will soon be implemented, completed and become a cultural highlight, creating a community living space for the people. As a resident born and raised in Gia Nghia, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong, in Nghia Thanh ward, really hopes that the square will be completed soon.

Since the province was re-established, Gia Nghia has not received any worthy public space investment. “Gia Nghia has developed rapidly in recent years, but public space is lacking. When the square is completed, children will have a place to play, and adults will have a place to walk and exercise. The square will certainly promote tourism and trade,” Mr. Chuong shared.

Gia Nghia City Central Square (Dak Nong) is a large-scale investment project of great significance.

At middle age, Mrs. Pham Thi Giang, in Nghia Phu ward, is quite impatient about the construction of the square. Passing by the construction site every day, which has been quiet for nearly 2 years, Mrs. Giang is looking forward to the day the square will be completed soon. Mrs. Giang shared: Having lived in Gia Nghia for more than 30 years, I really hope to have a square to take my children to play every weekend. The square is not only spacious and safe to play, but also a place for the province and city to have space to organize big events.

The students are very excited and looking forward to the square becoming a new cultural space. Nguyen Ngoc An, a student at Gia Nghia High School, shared: "I live here but since I was little, there has not been a park or square to play in. If there was a square, I would often come to participate in cultural and sports activities."

The elderly also expressed their desire to see the square completed soon. Mr. Bui Van Khanh, in Nghia Trung ward, said: "In recent years, Dak Nong has organized many big events such as: 20th anniversary of the province's re-establishment (January 1, 2004 - January 1, 2024), 50th anniversary of Gia Nghia Liberation Day (March 23, 1975 - March 23, 2025) ... If the square is completed soon, organizing these events will be very meaningful. We have been following the project since the day it started, but now it is still unfinished, so we are very impatient."

In the context of rapid urbanization, the square is considered an essential space, a destination for all ages to meet and interact. This is also a rare public space to connect people with the natural environment, contributing to improving the quality of life.

Gia Nghia City Central Square is well-planned, large-scale and expected to make a difference for the city. People are looking forward to the square's presence soon, becoming a symbol of innovation, civilization and quality of life in the young urban area of Gia Nghia.
