Increase agricultural value from OCOP products

To solve the problem of helping farmers develop the economy, along with resolutions on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, in the process of building new rural areas, Quang Ninh province has implemented the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) program. Accordingly, the development of OCOP products in the province has aroused the potential and advantages of rural areas, increased people's income, contributed to restructuring the agricultural sector, associated with the development and construction of new rural areas.

With the efforts of the government, businesses and people, agricultural products in the province, including OCOP products, are increasingly increasing in economic value. Through the OCOP program, many ideas from farmers, cooperatives, and businesses investing in the agricultural sector have become reality and become rich on their homeland. Many OCOP brands of Quang Ninh have become strong brands nationwide.

In previous years, Huc Dong Commune (Binh Lieu District) was considered the core poor area of the district. Through the program of building new rural areas and developing OCOP products, the material and spiritual life of the people in the commune is now increasingly improved. Most ethnic minority households have not only become rich thanks to growing vermicelli, but have also made a big step forward in changing their awareness of economic development thinking, commodity production, and market thinking. In addition to the current strong OCOP product groups, where enterprises and cooperatives play a leading role in organizing production, vermicelli products produced and processed by households themselves have helped people in Huc Dong Commune have a stable income and become richer every day.

In order for the One Commune, One Product program to create a strong spread, in addition to the constant efforts and striving of enterprises, cooperatives, associations and farmers, the province has issued policies to support the implementation of the program synchronously right from the stage of making production and business plans to trade promotion activities and forming a distribution system for OCOP products.

On the other hand, the province also directed localities and sectors to continue reviewing and planning the development of raw material areas, promoting the development of concentrated agricultural commodity production areas to provide raw materials for the production of OCOP products; promoting the issuance of codes for growing areas, aquaculture areas, and disease-free livestock facilities. Strengthening the processing of agricultural products and OCOP products; restructuring OCOP products towards focusing on solutions to upgrade star-rated products, especially 4-star OCOP products to meet the proposed national rating standards (5 stars). At the same time, the province also promoted the implementation of promotional, connecting, and trade promotion activities for OCOP products and regularly organized OCOP fairs at the provincial and district levels.

Quang Ninh's synchronous solutions to increase the value of agricultural products from OCOP products have been creating new ways of thinking and working for enterprises, cooperatives and farmers. Many enterprises and cooperatives have focused on investing in equipment and production lines, directly linking with farmers in the production and cultivation of agricultural products and product consumption. Therefore, agricultural products in general and OCOP products in particular have not only improved in quality, output and economic efficiency, but also helped farmers increase their income from agricultural production and cultivation.
