Determined and urgent for the closing day of Rach Mieu 2 bridge

According to the reporter at the scene on the evening of April 3, the project now only has about the last 5 meters left to complete the connection between the two banks of the Tien River.

Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board, said that the project is being implemented on schedule and is expected to be completed on the occasion of April 30 - the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

"There are only about 5 meters left to connect the two banks of Tien Giang and Ben Tre. This is the decisive moment and the construction units are focusing all resources to complete on schedule," Mr. Thi shared.

At the construction site, the working atmosphere is urgent 24/7. Workers are divided into 3-4 shifts, taking turns working non-stop.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Commander of the XL02 package, said: "We have mobilized the most experienced force with about 200 officers, workers, and technicians. Currently, there are about 100 officers and employees working the night shift at the construction site. To speed up the progress, we organize construction 24/7 with 3 continuous shifts, even 4 shifts on peak days."

Between the two spans of the bridge has moved back and forth.

According to records, in the area preparing for the jointing, workers had to move continuously between the two ends of the bridge under construction from both sides of the river. They transported materials, equipment and performed complex technical steps to ensure that the two ends of the bridge would be connected accurately.

Construction workers are determined to complete the goal ahead of schedule.

"This last 5m distance requires the highest precision. We have to constantly check, measure and adjust to ensure the two ends of the bridge will fit perfectly when closed," an engineer working at the project shared.

Worker Le Thanh Cuong, Trung Chinh Company, the safety supervisor at the construction site, said: "Workers work in shifts, 8 hours a day (4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon). For the night shift (from 2 am to 6 am), we get a 1-hour break. We have to move back and forth between the two ends of the bridge, sometimes hanging on cables dozens of meters above the water surface."

Mr. Le Thanh Cuong also added that despite the difficult working conditions, the workers' determination is very high. "Everyone understands that this is a national key project that must be completed on schedule on the occasion of April 30 - the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. We are ready to work day and night to achieve the goal," Mr. Cuong expressed his determination.

The My Thuan Project Management Board has organized many activities to encourage the spirit, visit and give gifts to workers in high-intensity working conditions. "Only 5 meters left until we complete the closing of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, which is the result of months of hard work. All of us are eagerly waiting for the historic moment of the bridge closing," an excited worker said.

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is one of the national key projects, playing an important role in improving the traffic system connecting the Mekong Delta. When completed, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will contribute to reducing traffic pressure on the existing Rach Mieu Bridge and promoting socio-economic development for the region.
