A strong candidate for HANIFF VII
"Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story" is a work adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh. The film takes the audience back to the memories of the 90s of the last century in a beautiful countryside called Lam Ha. The film tells the story of two friends named Vinh and Phuc, and the first love and maturity of the two boys with Mien. They went through childhood together, entered life together with their own choices. But above all, love, friendship, and sacrifice made them able to be there for each other.
A large audience enjoyed the movie.
Director Trinh Dinh Le Minh also said that loyalty to the original work and sincerity in telling the story are the most important things. Although there have been several long stories by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh adapted before, Trinh Dinh Le Minh is confident that he will bring a new atmosphere and a special cinematic experience in "Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story".
"It is a story about pure values and ideals of love that any generation can accept. I aimed to tell this story in a language that is both pure and romantic but also fierce, like a stream flowing through gentle streams before becoming bumpy and strong like a waterfall, before reaching a peaceful, gentle lake...", director Trinh Dinh Le Minh shared.
Sharing her feelings about the film, Ms. Nguyen Khanh Van, 72 years old (Thuy Khue, Ba Dinh, Hanoi) said: "My daughter invited me to watch this film and I really found it very good. The film is gentle, humane, and guides us to beauty and friendship, simple but very beautiful love."
Ms. Pham Ai Van (45 years old, daughter of Ms. Khanh Van) said: "The film is especially suitable for our age group (U50). Watching the film, I feel like I am reliving my childhood, in the 90s, I was also a student like Vinh, Phuc, Mien. I also love the books, the gentle stories of Nguyen Nhat Anh. Thank you to the crew for bringing a very good film, giving us moments to return to our youth."
As shared by director Trinh Dinh Le Minh, this pure, romantic and lovely film is suitable for many ages and audiences. The previous generation of artists assessed that the film has awakened pure memories of youth in each person. At the film's premiere on November 1, Meritorious Artist Chieu Xuan expressed: "The story is told very meticulously by the director, the actors act meticulously. When you choose a difficult topic like this, how can you convince the audience, make them feel moved, laugh, cry, and feel the pain in a romantic love story to the core is not easy. Above all, it is not just a love triangle, who is happy, who is miserable, but whether the audience can see the great love there, whether their soul is at peace after watching the film, and I have seen that very clearly!".
The film is receiving a lot of expectations from the industry and the public and is truly a strong candidate at HANIFF VII.
People's Artist Tran Luc said: "The film reminds me of beautiful memories of my school days. In the film, the actors are full of emotions." Journalist Diem Quynh expressed: "I see my youth in the past. The film is lovely, innocent, sincere and very touching. If we say this is a love story, it is true, maybe young audiences will be moved by it, but I think older audiences will appreciate the story of friendship and the message of the film more. The ending of the film leaves many thoughts for viewers."
The film ends with a beautiful ending, like when "the seed sown has borne fruit", but "Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story" continues to arouse curiosity, can the film "make a difference" at HANIFF VII? The answer is still a mystery, but at the present time, the film is receiving a lot of expectations from the industry and the public, truly a bright candidate at HANIFF VII./.
