Conquering the sky and making the dream of flying come true for millions of people is considered one of the things that makes the pilot profession attractive to young people. In particular, this profession is also considered to be easy to find a job after graduation and has an attractive income.

Income level up to 9 digits
With the rapid development of the aviation industry and the shortage of human resources in the cockpit, the "iron bird controllers" all have sky-high salaries. The salary of pilots depends on many factors such as rank, type of aircraft they control, seniority and the airline they work for.
In the announcement to recruit pilots to serve the plan to develop new routes, the maximum income that an airline in Vietnam offers is up to 13,300 USD/month (about 300 million VND) for the captain of the wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft, and 8,000 USD/month (about 180 million VND) for the first officer.
The maximum income for captains and co-pilots on narrow-body Airbus and Embraer 190 aircraft is about 10,450 USD/month (about 236 million VND) and more than 6,300 USD/month (about 142 million VND), respectively. However, the average salary in 2022 of Vietnamese pilots is only 59% of that of foreign pilots.
In addition to the huge income, pilots also receive many excellent benefits. Family members of pilots will enjoy discounts on airfares of up to 90%. At the same time, pilots' vacation time is also very special, as every 9 weeks of work, pilots will have 1 week off to spend time with family and friends.
Standards to become a pilot
To become a professional pilot, students need to undergo a training process lasting about 18 months. During this time, you will study theory and practice in a simulated cockpit for about 7 months. After that, continue to do the practical part at training schools in Australia, the US, and New Zealand.
Once selected by airlines, pilots will have to attend a conversion training course lasting about 2 months and practical training on aircraft for about 4 to 6 months. On average, it takes airlines about 2.5 years to complete a pilot training process.
At the same time, to become a pilot student, one must meet a number of strict standards regarding physical strength, physiological functions, diseases and disabilities. Regarding physical strength, male pilots must be at least 1m65 tall and weigh at least 52kg; while female pilots must be at least 1m58 tall and weigh at least 50kg.
Their body mass index (BMI) must be between 18 and 30, and there are also detailed regulations for chest circumference, grip strength, trunk traction, and blood pressure. For physiological function, disease, and disability, strict health standards must be met involving all body systems.
If you want to pursue a career as a pilot, you can refer to the recruitment and training program of Bay Viet Training Joint Stock Company (a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines). This is the only unit in Vietnam approved by the Civil Aviation Authority and organizes basic pilot training with some domestic training stages.
