Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Son District ( Hanoi ), said that the unit has decided to investigate the responsibilities and review the performance of the collective and individuals involved in the case of Dang Thai Mai High School's illegal construction following a report by Dan Viet Newspaper.
On the morning of March 29th, in an interview with Dan Viet newspaper , Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Son district (Hanoi), stated that after learning about the illegal construction of Dang Thai Mai High School, the district People's Committee has been very decisive in addressing the issue. Simultaneously, the Soc Son district People's Committee has established an inspection team to directly investigate the violations at this construction site, with the principle of taking action wherever violations are found.

According to Mr. Ngoc, on March 28th, after inspecting and identifying violations at the construction site of the classroom building at Dang Thai Mai High School, the Soc Son District People's Committee decided to investigate the responsibility of Mr. Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of the Hong Ha Commune People's Committee. In addition, they also reviewed the performance of the relevant individuals and groups within the Soc Son District Urban Construction Order Management Team, and requested that a case file be prepared for processing before April 30th.

"Dang Thai Mai High School was established 20 years ago. During the construction and expansion process, the school did not apply for a building permit, and the commune's People's Committee thought too simply. When the authorities intervened decisively, the school requested to rectify the situation themselves in April by dismantling the entire structure. Yesterday (March 28), workers began dismantling the roof, but the district processed the paperwork as usual. Our approach must be thorough; we must definitely force the demolition of the illegal building," Mr. Ngoc emphasized.

Previously, as reported by Dan Viet Newspaper , a resident of Hong Ky commune, Soc Son district, Hanoi, stated that the four-story building, approximately 200 square meters in size, at Dang Thai Mai High School has been constructed illegally.
Specifically, residents shared that on March 7th, the Urban Construction Order Management Team of Soc Son District, along with the People's Committee of Hong Ky Commune and other relevant parties, held a meeting to clearly determine that Dang Thai Mai High School was constructing a building on land without a construction permit, seriously violating construction and land management laws.
Mr. Dam Khac Sy, Principal of Dang Thai Mai High School, admitted that the school's construction of a four-story building without obtaining the necessary building permits from relevant authorities was wrong. (Clip: Ngoc Hai)
"However, since then, the construction has continued brazenly and illegally, seriously affecting legitimate rights and causing public outrage. Furthermore, if an accident occurs during the construction of an unauthorized building, it will seriously affect the lives and health of people, including students attending the school," this resident stated.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Viet , Mr. Dam Khac Sy, Principal of Dang Thai Mai High School, admitted that the school's construction of a four-story building without proper permits from relevant authorities was wrong.
"Due to our limited understanding of construction regulations, we violated them. Initially, I thought it was a simple project to serve the needs of the people's children. I asked some people and they said this area didn't require a permit, I didn't think the situation would become so serious. If we had known it was wrong from the start, we wouldn't have done it. We're in a position where we're riding a tiger! Who wants to go against the government and the law? When the authorities ask us to stop, we stop; no one is foolish enough to defy the law...", Mr. Sy explained.
Mr. Sy also affirmed his commitment to strictly comply with the directives of the authorities regarding the temporary suspension of construction until the relevant procedures are completed. He is also currently working on a project to apply for a permit from the City People's Committee.
According to Dan Viet 's investigation, this is a private school established 20 years ago. The school currently has 27 teachers and staff and 270 students in grades 10 and 11. Prior to this, for two consecutive school years (2020-2021 and 2021-2022), the school was unable to enroll students due to insufficient facilities.
Speaking to a reporter from Dan Viet newspaper , Ms. Doan Thi Kieu Oanh, Chief Inspector of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that after receiving the information, the unit sent officials to work directly with Dang Thai Mai High School to verify and clarify the matter.
