In late March 2025, going to the communes and villages in Quy Chau district, we recorded a very urgent atmosphere to build and repair hundreds of houses for the poor. On the roads, trucks carrying materials ran back and forth, many villages were like a large construction site day and night.

Chau Phong is one of the communes with the largest number of houses for poor households that are supported and need to be completed before July 31 in Quy Chau district, with 143 houses. Chau Phong commune Party Secretary Sam Van Lan said that as a remote commune of the district, people's lives are still very difficult, so building houses is difficult. Transporting materials, hiring workers as well as resources of households are also very limited.

Therefore, to help households receiving support for new construction and house renovation this time to start construction and complete on schedule, commune and village officials are making efforts to work with the people to remove difficulties.

Chairman of Chau Phong Commune People's Committee Luong Van Hiep shared that there were households who were sick and had few people, so in order to start building their houses in time, officials had to contact construction workers, buy materials; even mobilize more money so that people could start building their houses.
For example, Mrs. Lu Thi Hue's household in Tam village. Mrs. Hue is old, lives with her daughter and has been sick and has been treated at the provincial hospital for more than a month, right at the time when the house needs to be rebuilt under the housing support program, so she cannot prepare for construction. On March 29, Mrs. Lu Thi Hue and her daughter returned home from the hospital. Mrs. Hue said: Due to illness, her daughter also had to go with her to take care of her mother, so the commune and village officials mobilized the help of neighbors to clean up the old house, contact to hire construction workers, buy materials so that construction can start on April 1.
“Without the government, I wouldn’t have been able to build the house. My family is very touched and thanks the officials very much,” Ms. Hue said.

Mr. Vi Van Phuong - Secretary of Ban village Party Cell said that among the 9 villages of Chau Phong commune, Ban village has the largest number of houses supported for construction and repair with 36/143 houses. Among them, there are many households in very difficult circumstances, needing support from the government, such as Mrs. Le Thi Hung's household, which was supported for new construction this time, but because Mrs. Hung is a single person, besides the 60 million VND supported by the State, she does not have additional funds to build a house.
To help Mrs. Hung build a house, the Chau Phong Commune People's Committee officials called for and mobilized social resources to raise an additional 10 million VND to help Mrs. Hung have enough money to rebuild her new house. At the same time, they helped her contact and request more sand and gravel materials, and mobilized auxiliary workers. Currently, Mrs. Hung's house has begun construction.

Also in Ban village, Mr. Lo Xuan Hoa's family received 60 million VND in support. He borrowed more from the Social Policy Bank to build a new house, replacing the old house that was termite-infested and dilapidated. Mr. Hoa said that his family held a groundbreaking ceremony on March 3 and is now almost completed. Thanks to the meaningful program of the Party and State, from now on, his family no longer has to worry about insecurity when the weather changes and there are erratic rains.
Not far from Mr. Hoa's house is Mrs. Lang Thi Thu's house, which has just received support for renovation. Mrs. Lang Thi Thu's family is a policy family. Mrs. Thu and her husband depend on each other to live in an old house.

Up to now, Chau Phong commune has 135 households that have started construction, of which 11 have completed; 10 households are expected to start construction in early April 2025 and by July 31, 2025, 100% of the houses will be completed as planned.

In 2025, the district has supported 579 households to build new and repair houses, striving to complete 100% of the target before July 31, 2025.
