RIA Novosti reported on March 7 that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that in the process of establishing communication channels with the US, Russia will manage this process based on Washington's actions and steps.
Ms. Zakharova noted that Moscow has a realistic view of the prospects for restoring relations (with Washington).
Asked about the possibility of seeing the restoration of bilateral relations in an optimistic light, Ms. Zakharova said: "I think this situation needs to be viewed realistically. And that is what we are doing. There are contacts. They are being implemented and implemented continuously. It is clear that there is a need to rebuild (Moscow-Washington) relations. As we move forward (this process), we will be guided by concrete actions and steps from the other side."
Previously, on March 6, US Special Envoy for Russia and Ukraine Keith Kellogg announced that continued isolation and lack of interaction with Russia is no longer a viable or sustainable strategy in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
He noted that US President Donald Trump's approach is based on the recognition of the need to reset relations between Moscow and Washington./.
