Russian forces improve tactical position in Avdeyevka direction
On April 14, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian forces had improved the situation along the front line in the direction of Kupyansk.
“In the direction of Kupyansk, units of the Zapad Group of Forces improved the situation along the front line, causing losses in personnel and equipment of the 57th Motorized Rifle Brigade, the 144th Infantry Brigade and the 14th and 21st Motorized Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the settlements of Sinkovka and Zagoruykovka in the Kharkov region, Stelmakhovka in the Lugansk People's Republic (self-proclaimed) and Terny in the Donetsk People's Republic (self-proclaimed),” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The Russian Armed Forces also improved the situation along the front line in the direction of Yuzhno Donetsk and destroyed a large number of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "In the direction of Yuzhno Donetsk, units of the Vostok Group improved the situation along the front line and defeated the formations of the 1st Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine and the 108th Military Defense Brigade in the area of the Charivnoye settlement in the Zaporozhye region and Urozhainoye in the (self-proclaimed) Donetsk People's Republic," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Russian forces also improved the tactical situation in the direction of Avdeyevka and repelled seven enemy counterattacks. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to six tanks.
“In the Avdeyevka direction, units of the (Russian) Central Group through active operations improved the tactical situation and repelled the 24th and 115th Mechanized Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the Novokalinovo settlement in the (self-proclaimed) Donetsk People's Republic,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Another strategic bridge near Velyka Novosilka destroyed
In addition to stepping up attacks on the front lines, Russia has also stepped up air strikes in Ukraine's rear. The targets are infrastructure facilities serving the Ukrainian Armed Forces and military facilities.
Recently, a video of the Russian military airstrike that destroyed a bridge near the settlement of Velyka Novosilka was released. This is an important bridge used as a supply route for Kiev forces in the direction of Donetsk.
SF reported that the bridge was hit by a Russian Aerospace Forces Su-34 fighter jet. It was severely damaged by a Kh-38 missile attack.
The Kh-38 has a range of 40 km and carries a 250 kg warhead. The basic version of the missile is guided via an inertial navigation system with GLONASS support. Other versions with semi-active laser, active radar and infrared imaging seekers have been developed.
This missile also forms the basis for the Kh-36 Grom-E1, a tactical cruise missile with a range of 120 km, and the Kh-36 Grom-E2, a guided glide bomb with a range of 50 km.
The Velyka Novosilka bridge could be the target of the laser-guided missile version, called the Kh-38ML because of its high accuracy. The Orlan-30 reconnaissance drone was used to mark the target (the bridge) for the missile attack.
Earlier, on April 10, the Russian army also attacked Ukraine’s strategic bridge in the Odessa region. The strategically important railway bridge connecting Chernomorsk (Ilyichevsk) and Alexandrovka is used to transport weapons, ammunition and military equipment supplied to the port of Chernomorsk from NATO countries. The destruction of the bridge by Russia will negatively affect the supply of weapons and ammunition to the Odessa region from abroad.
In recent months, the Russian military has intensified its attacks on key bridges in the rear of the special military operations area. The precision strikes have destroyed many bridges, hindering Ukraine’s ability to move troops, military equipment and supplies to the front line.
