QUANG TRI - The Sau Sau forest in the Rao Quan hydropower area, Huong Tan commune, Huong Hoa district, is in the season of changing leaves, creating impressive colors.

From afar, the Sau Sau forest growing on the hilltops, along the Rao Quan hydroelectric plant, changes its leaves, creating an impressive, colorful scene.

Sau sau is a large light-loving tree that regenerates strongly. This tree has many other names such as white worm, phong huong, bach giao, bach giao huong, bach tree... distributed in many northern provinces.
Many Sau Sau trees located near the Roa Quan hydroelectric lake were flooded but still changed leaves normally, with red and yellow colors standing out among the green forest.

According to locals, from mid-December to the end of January is the time when the sau sau tree changes color and then falls.

The area around Rao Quan hydroelectric lake with cool air is home to thousands of sau sau trees.

The Sau Sau forest stands out among the Truong Son forest in the western part of Quang Tri.
According to oriental medicine books, parts of the sau sau tree including fruit, leaves, roots, and resin are also used as medicine, helping to treat toothache, rash, hives...

From above, the sau sau forest is easy to recognize compared to other tree species.
To reach the Sau Sau forest, visitors follow the West Ho Chi Minh road from Khe Sanh town to Huong Phung commune. In addition to the Sau Sau forest, visitors can visit Nam Mua Bugalow in Huong Phung commune, hunt clouds from the hills with wind power, and visit Ta Con airport.
