Having qualified early, Man Utd still needed a win against FCSB to secure a direct place in the Europa League round of 16. The goals in the second half, with Kobbie Mainoo's mark, helped the "Red Devils" complete the task of winning 3 points.

The "Red Devils" went straight to the round of 16. Man Utd's opponents in the next round are one of four teams: AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad or Galatasaray.
The remaining representative of the Premier League, Tottenham, is also in the top 8 of the qualifying round. The list of 8 teams that will go straight to the round of 16 includes Lazio (Italy), Athletic Bilbao (Spain), Man Utd, Tottenham (England), Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), Lyon (France), Olympiacos (Greece) and Rangers (Scotland).
