According to Siam Sport , FAT held a meeting to plan preparations for the Thai U17 team, and affirmed that it would create the best conditions for the team to have the best preparation before participating in the final round of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship (starting in April, hosted by Saudi Arabia). In particular, Madam Pang (FAT President) personally took care of many things, from preparing the force, scheduling overseas training... to help the Thai U17 team conquer the World Cup dream.
U.17 Thailand trains abroad
The Thailand U17 team will start training from February 15, before leaving for Qatar for a 10-day training camp. At the same time, FAT is also contacting the Thailand U17 team to have friendly matches during their stay in Qatar and when traveling to Saudi Arabia. These friendly matches are intended to simulate real matches, helping Thai players get used to the competition conditions (weather, breathing, etc.), especially when the city hosting the competition is located at an altitude of 1,900 m above sea level.
Head coach of the Thai U.17 team, Mr. Jadet Meelarp shared: "Thank you to the President of FAT (Madam Pang) for directly contacting and taking care of everything. Without the support from Madam Pang, the Thai U.17 coaching team would certainly not have the ability to do this. Even in finding mixed-race players (Thai-born) and organizing training in Qatar. The story of finding mixed-race players is also something that Madam Pang has always been passionate about, since her time as the manager of the Thai team."
Efforts to recruit 2 players of Indonesian blood, currently playing in England
"Recently, in the case of Silva Mexes from U.17 MU and Kai Laws from U.17 Nottingham Forest (England), the chairman contacted them directly because he saw their potential. Of course, with such maximum support, as head coach, I will try to bring the team to the World Cup," said Mr. Jadet Meelarp.
The 2025 AFC U-17 Championship finals are also the qualifiers for the 2025 AFC U-17 World Cup. Accordingly, the eight teams that advance from the group stage to the quarterfinals of the 2025 AFC U-17 Championship will qualify for the World Cup in Qatar in November. The Thailand U-17 team is in Group A with Saudi Arabia (host), Uzbekistan and China. Of which, host Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan are highly rated in Group A, while China is considered to be on par with the team from the land of the golden pagoda.
U.17 Vietnam also "dreams" of the World Cup
The 2025 AFC U-17 Championship Finals will feature 16 teams, divided into four groups. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals and also secure a ticket to the World Cup. In this tournament, Vietnam U-17 is in a very tough group D with Japan, Australia and the UAE.
The Vietnam U.17 team is also thinking about a ticket to the U.17 World Cup. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is choosing a high-class coach to lead the young Vietnamese man. According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, VFF will sign a contract with a Japanese "captain" who has coached the U.16 and U.19 teams of this country. With the new coaching team, the Vietnam U.17 team will have about 3 weeks to practice tactics and prepare a thorough mental foundation before "competing" in the 2025 U.17 Asian final round. In the 2025 U.17 Asian tournament, thorough preparation in terms of physical strength, mentality and tactics is the key to clearly distinguishing the ability of the teams to go far. The Vietnam U.17 team is expected to gather in mid-March.
