Long An temporarily suspends the implementation of district construction planning

Currently, some localities are organizing the establishment and adjustment of district construction planning and general urban planning, general commune planning according to the orientation of Long An Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 686/QD-TTg, dated June 13, 2023.

Based on the study of Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW, dated February 28, 2025 and referring to the content of Document No. 498/BXD-QHKT, dated March 17, 2025 of the Ministry of Construction, the Department of Construction proposes that the People's Committees of localities temporarily suspend the implementation of district-level construction planning to avoid overlap and waste until the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units at all levels are completed.

In addition, to ensure planning management in the area while waiting for specific instructions from the Central Government, localities continue to implement general urban planning and communal planning according to current legal regulations on urban planning and construction planning.

Previously, on February 28, 2025, the Central Executive Committee issued Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW of the Politburo and the Secretariat on implementing research and proposing to continue to reorganize the apparatus of the political system. In particular, the Politburo requested to reorganize administrative units at all levels and build a 2-level local government organization model (merging some provincial-level units, not organizing at the district level, merging some commune-level units) to ensure streamlining, efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency./.
