On January 23, Quang Ngai Urban Environment Joint Stock Company started construction of miniature landscape and installation of dragon mascot at Ba To Park (Quang Ngai City). This is to create space for people to enjoy spring during the Lunar New Year 2024.

A highlight of Ba To Park this year is the dragon sculpture. However, when the dragon head was brought to the construction site, many Quang Ngai City residents thought the dragon head sculpture was too ugly.

The dragon sculpture at Ba To Park (Quang Ngai City) was criticized by many people because it does not resemble... a dragon (Photo: Quoc Trieu).

The image of the dragon head posted by many people on their personal Facebook pages received more criticism than praise. Many comments expressed that the dragon shape did not look like a dragon, some even said it looked like a chicken. A few comments said that the stylized dragon shape was quite modern, on the other hand, the dragon mascot was not yet completed so it could not be praised or criticized.

According to the reporter's observation, the dragon's head is quite large and is made up of many blocks using a stylized method. The dragon's head is made up of blocks with the main colors being red and yellow. The dragon's head is made up of many blocks, so when viewed closely, the dragon's head is quite rough.

The construction unit said that the dragon mascot was not yet completed, so there were many conflicting opinions (Photo: Quoc Trieu).

According to Mr. Bui Van Quang, General Director of Quang Ngai Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, this year's Tet holiday, the construction unit will install 4 dragons to decorate public places in Quang Ngai City. The dragon mascot was designed by a company in Ho Chi Minh City.

Regarding the criticism that the dragon is ugly, Mr. Quang said that the dragon mascot at Ba To Park is not yet complete. Currently, only the dragon head has been transported to the construction site. The large dragon head has many details so it has been disassembled, while the horn, which is more than 9m long, has not yet been assembled.

"The dragon mascot at Ba To park still has its body and is fully decorated. The image people see is only the head, which is also not fully finished, so many people have mixed opinions," said Mr. Quang.
