Ceremony of awarding the Medal of the Government of Japan to former Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan

On the morning of January 24, at the National Assembly House, the ceremony to award the First Class Grand Cross of the Rising Sun Medal from the Japanese Government to former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan took place.

On the Japanese side, there were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Yamada Takio and his wife, and representatives of a number of Japanese organizations in Vietnam.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Emperor and the Government of Japan, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio announced the decision and awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Rising Sun, First Class, to former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented flowers to congratulate former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Yamada Takio emphasized that throughout her career, from being the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to being Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly and Chairwoman of the National Assembly, former Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has made great contributions to strengthening and promoting the Japan-Vietnam friendship.

During her tenure as Vice Chairwoman and Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, former Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan focused on promoting exchanges between the two countries’ parliaments and actively enhancing the high level of political trust between Japan and Vietnam. This was demonstrated by the official visit to Vietnam by the Chairman and Vice Chairwoman of the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors of Japan and the visit to Vietnam by senior Japanese leaders.

As Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, former Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made active contributions to the labor sector. One of her outstanding contributions was promoting the program to send Vietnamese nurses and caregivers to work in Japan based on the Japan-Vietnam Economic Partnership Agreement. Nearly 1,900 Vietnamese nurses and caregivers have gone to work in Japan.

Currently, the number of Vietnamese people studying and working in Japan is up to nearly 520 thousand people. Ambassador Yamada Takio emphasized that Vietnamese labor force is an indispensable factor in the socio-economic development of Japan; at the same time, he expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries will develop further in many forms, in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the two countries. Vietnamese workers will increasingly enhance their position and be the "string" that firmly connects the relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Yamada Takio affirmed that the contributions of former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan have left their mark on the journey of strengthening Japan-Vietnam relations and will be preserved and continued, based on the solid foundation of the relationship that has been nurtured, built and developed by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

Expressing her emotion, honor and pride in receiving the Order of the Rising Sun, First Class Grand Cross, awarded by the Japanese Government, former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan emphasized that this is a great reward demonstrating Japan's attention and appreciation for her contributions during her work.

Former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan wished the good relationship between Vietnam and Japan to continue to develop well in the future.
